Excellent Practice- Unionville Pediatrics 9/10/2012

We have been going to this practice for 8 years. Our kids have been seen by each of the Drs and we are so pleased. Each Dr has always taken their time, listened to our concerns and worked really well with our kids. We even have had to deal with some extremely serious medical concerns and they have spearheaded getting the best surgeons in New England to work with one of our children. I recommend this whole practice - they are intelligent, compassionate and outstanding for all ages. I should also note - we have always been able to get in within the same day. The office staff and Drs are always supportive, proactive and helpful. more

Okay Docs Bad Office 12/16/2011

I have finally switched away from this office. The staff is ridiculous to the point that my kids we all very late on their immunizations. The front desk expected me to look up and know when I need to schedule an appointment for their shots. They had also miss documented my file and insisted I wasn't in their office a few weeks prior to a follow-up visit because they had two files for my son. It took a blow out with the staff to get this resolved. Just happy to finally be somewhere new!!! more

Not Impressed 10/12/2011

I switched to this practice when I moved to the Farmington Valley Area. Although the hours are convenient, and the doctors are kind, I found the staff (nurses) to be quick, curt, and seemingly "stressed". Example: my autistic daughter was terrified about getting a flu shot and rather than calming & reassuring her, the nurse literally grabbed her arm and jammed the needle in. Now I have to deal with a child who is obsessed with and terrified of vaccinations. The practice is also adamant that I take her to UCONN(and ONLY UCONN?!?) for genetic testing that will be of zero benefit to her. Thanks, but no thanks on my kid being a lab rat- she's been through enough. Additionally, my son was diag'd with ADHD recently by a well-known and respected child psychiatrist- when I mentioned this at his physical, the MD rolled his eyes and said, "ALL kids are diag'd with ADHD these days and I would like to wait and see him outgrow it like most do." ?!?! I'll "wait and see for a cold or sore throat, but not when my child has demonstrated a consistent pattern of struggling on so many levels. Lastly, the office is old, dingy and in dire need of updating. The pediatric office I went to as a child in the 70's & 80's was more "together" than this place. Sorry, but in this day and age, I want to know my child is receiving top-notch care and I do not get that impression at Unionville Pediatrics. I'm disappointed to have to switch again and have struggled with this, but it's time. more

Not the Best 7/14/2011

The doctors were okay they seemed a little bit distanced throughout the process. The worst part of the practice is the hours, they are never open Saturdays and close every day at 4:00. This makes it very difficult for working parents to get to appointments. more

I used to like them... 6/14/2011

I never had any problems with this practice until my three year old got a 10 on the hemoglobin test (normal range being 11-14). The nurse never waited for my attention but instead walked in, did the blood prick then left as he began crying without saying a word. When I went back for the follow up I was merely informed the level was still "not 11" and they would have to do a blood draw which meant holding my child down while two vials of blood were taken. The rating, which I found out afterward, was in fact a 10.9 now and demonstrated the iron supplement was working just fine and dandy (normal range is 11-14). They did not tell us the actual rating prior to having this blood draw done but instead reframed it to say "It's not 11". For the blood draw the nurse also told my husband to stop talking to our child because "my job is hard enough". Very disappointed and will not be going back. more

greats docs 7/19/2010

The doctors at this practice are phenomenal. They always explain what is going on, which is important, especially to a new parent. And they are always so great with the kids. In 8 years I have never had a problem getting my kids in same day when they are sick. Sometimes it can be tough to get through on the phone, but it is not a deal breaker for me as the care my kids receive is really great! more

Couldn't ask for better care; first rate 5/18/2010

Unionville Pediatrics has been amazing in caring for our two boys. From the routine visits to the after hours emergency care, they are responsive to our needs and wonderful with our kids - (the care, alleviating fears, and for issues in general they are first rate) I would & have recommend the practice to all friends and family looking for a new doctors. At times the phone may be issue, but with patience, I have never had trouble getting through... even during flu season. I understand that most good practices have the same phone issue. more

phone problem 2/12/2010

I could not give it more than 1 stars even it is a very convenient location to me. Last year I tried to call the office 3 days in a row in several times a day for a flu shot and I know the phone number was correct. The end I had to come down to talk to the office and find out no flu shot avaliable at that time. more

Wonderful Practice With Long Buisness Hours 8/15/2005

Unionville Pediatrics is an excellent practice with four doctors and several nurses. The doctors are kind, gentle, and very knowledgeable in their field. The secretaries are pleasant to speak to and appointments are flexible. The office is open until 5 PM and a doctor is always on call. The practice accepts patients from newborn to 18 years old. more
