Discriminating Taste 9/17/2008

While having ice cream in the Riverwalk on Monday, my two daughters and I grabbed a table that happened to be next to another family enjoying their ice cream and that happened to be outside the Swig Bar. Shortly after we sat down, a guy came out of the bar and took a look around. We acknowledged each other without saying a word, and he went back in. Then he came back to the table and asked me if I was going to order something to drink or wanted a menu. I told him that I did not want to drink anything that we were just trying to finish eating the ice cream. He clarified that the tables belonged to the bar and its clients. I told him that we would leave the table shortly. more

If you look at my Dolce Ultra Lounge review, you'll see that Dolce was lame so we walked next door to Swig North and it was so much better!!! It's a very cool place to have martini's...really great martini's at that! They have an extensive cute menu that makes you want to try them all! The waitstaff was very attentive as the manager. Signs of a great running establishment! Pros: Great martini's / drinks, Great service Cons: can be pricey, but its worth it! more

One of the best bars in the area 10/9/2007

Great service and well-made cocktails about summarize this downtown institution. The music usually good too. The mojito is really a highlight for me, and it doesn't seem to burn too much of a hole in your pocket. I usually go either here or to Drink after work - both are relatively tourist-free and good places to find locals. Pros: Great drinks, great service. Cons: No food and can get very crowded. more

They serve my favorite Vodka, UV! The service is supurb and the cocktails are devine! The atmosphere is upscale and beyond trendy, it is a true cocktail lounge. If you are looking for beautiful people this is the place. Pros: the drinks more

Great Employees 8/13/2006

My brother and I were in San Antonio last week and ended up at Swigs every night at some time or another. The Employees are awesome! Fiona, Shannon, Big D and the crew made us feel right at home. They have great drinks and also offer cold Black and Tans for the beer drinker. Check out the Jazz band 87 Caprice that plays there, good stuff. Thanks Swig! Pros: Great atmoshpere more

Good Experience @ Swig 7/21/2005

We recently visited SWIG. We definitely are not ""yuppies"" or ""plastic"" people. We are very much the average, blue collar worker and both visits, we were in shorts. Definitely not dressed up. Although the bar was very smokey and the music very loud, we did have a good time. The bar was extremely busy yet our waitress was very attentive and treated us like anyone else there who were ""dressed to the nines"" so to speak. Yes, the drinks are outrageously priced, yet they were the best martinis we have ever had. more

Anyone who has been to SWIG will tell you, anyone who is anyone is at SWIG. This place is HOT! If you can sit on the patio and have a cocktail with Hollywood's hottest and the swank of San Antonio, it seems that no wonder it is the best. You feel like are you are truly in a metropolitan city, not an over-sized town. The martinis are the best in TEXAS, possibly the USA. I give a huge thumbs-up to SWIG crew, AMAZING DIGS. Pros: Hot Celebrities, Great Martinis, Amazing Service Cons: Crappy Music upstairs, Line to get in more

The clientel aren't your normal person, but rather yuppies who believe they are better then everyone else outside of their little group in that bar. So not exactly a shirt and jeans locations. However, a few of the servers are exeptional in their drink mixing and customer service capability. But the crowd makes the bar, and the crowd here is non to plesent. They have the best of everthing. Its a local hang out. Its close to the river walk but not on the river which makes it good for the locals downtown. The have great snacks and drinks. more

Been to better bars 11/29/2002

Swigs is overrated. Full of obnoxious stuck up people and the service is lacking. Prices are way too high especially for a simple beer! Then again, if you have lots of money and like to while away your time with lots of plastic people who follow the most current trend then Swigs is your place along with all the other skanky bars along the riverwalk. more

Personality Pleeease 11/1/2002

I really enjoyed this place, but the waitstaff did not do much socializing. I realize they have a job to do, but the mechanized statements were a little boring. Try to get the waitstaff to be a little friendlier and accomodaing, but I will be back to check it out again. Pros: relaxing atmosphere Cons: expensive more

This bar is the love of my life. I am in love with the bartender Chris. I have been frequenting this place for about three years. I am a college graduate and I love how nice everyone is. They don't discriminate about your age, and that is refreshing. If you are college age you still get treated with respect. If you are in college and beautiful you are treated like a goddess for the night!!!! I love it. The jazz is great, where did the singer go....she was great Pros: beautiful people, great service, great for a group Cons: crowded, expensive, jazz can be too loud more
