Just tried their lunch special that was posted on their board. A ""cuban"" sandwich... with ""two"" sides, and a drink. After paying over $10, I have to say that the lunch special was neither. Lunch: I only got one side...(okay I thought- I don't really need two), but the size of the sandwich was tiny! Special: $10... really?!? Never again Sweets. After eating at Sweet Melissa's this past Sunday I would not recommend it to anyone I liked. The handling of seating seemed chaotic. We had a group and was told it was no problem to be seated together . When it came time to seat us they split us up and seated us NOT even close to each other! There was a live band playing which made the noise inside the already small space worse. The service was slow also. Finally being able to order the ""famous"" french toast , a ""Full Order "" of bacon and coffee, I was very hungry by this time. The food came after awhile and what a surprise. My french toast was 4 ""Solid"" slices of challah...in no way light and flavorful. The powered sugar sprinkled very liberally on them had more flavor. My ""Full Order"" of bacon was 3 soggy slices of nondescript bacon. A full order of bacon is $3.00! A dollar a greasy slice. The waitress never came back to give us more coffee and we had to hail another down just to get the check finally. If you're looking for a nice brunch place for a sunday morning to relax and have a good meal...Sweet Melissa's misses out on that. Cons: no parking, noisy, badly cooked and tasteless food more

I have loved this restaurant for years, always wished they were open evenings because the breakfast and lunch food so good. They make the best waffles I've tasted - with fresh strawberries and bananas if ordered that way. The breakfast burritos are delicious. My favorites, which I alternate between, are the Supreme Breakfast (with delicious supreme cheese in the scrambled eggs) and the ""Hopple-Popple"" which has pepperoni and sausage in the scrambled eggs. I love coming during Passover so I can get Matzah with my eggs. Omelettes are too big for one person and delicious. The owner is very friendly, usually there and circulating to get feedback; the wait people are friendly and after a few visits remember that I like my eggs soft scrambled and my biscuit hot, without me asking. I have introduced many friends to the place, all of whom have agreed and go back. We usually go on Saturdays, but Sundays they usually have jazz music being played . In good weather the atmosphere of hanging out in front with the people waiting to go in next door to the bar is fun and convivial. I also notice on Saturdays many of the same people again and again - the food is so good one would definitely be a repeat customer. Also, they are constantly going by with coffee, and even if the waitress with coffee is not ""your"" waitress, she offers it to you - they are so friendly and help each other out. I heartily recommend Sweet Melissas for delicious, filling food and good treatment by everyone. Pros: Delicious food, tastes homemade, always hot (a sticking point with me), good portions, good music on Sundays Cons: Parking in Decatur, but I've found if you park in the Eddies Attic area and walk across, there's usually a space more

Hi, we just went to Sweet Melissa's for breakfast and it was anything but sweet. Waitresses ( with the exception of one of the girls) are rude, do not smile and have attitude if you dare to ask for anything. The owner should really re-train the people or hire new ones because they act like you are bothering them and not giving them their paycheck. Nobody makes eye contact when you waiting in line, food is very OVERPRICED and not all that great. The strawberries ( that cost extra) were far for fresh , the bacon was served burnt and the pancakes were flat and tasteless. It takes forever to get you check and the card back. I think they take it for granted that people in Decatur will support local businesses no matter what and they are wrong. I will NEVER recommend that place again to any of my customers. I honestly cannot believe that anyone would consider serving what I attempted to ingest from Sweet Melissa's yesterday. Pros: Service was prompt and courteous. Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE, although, I did not see the bathrooms...maybe they were clean. more

I used to LOVE Sweet Melissa's. Their food was great, the price was reasonable, and the food was plentiful. My husband and I ate there recently and noticed not only a price increase, but also a significant skimping on food. The huevres rancheros used to come with a biscuit and two tortillas slatered in eggs, salsa, and sour cream. Now, only one tortilla is served, no biscuit, and the price has increased by $1.50. Its one thing to raise prices a little, but to also reduce portions so significantly was more than we could tolerate. The restaurant was not very busy when we walked in and now we know why. With all the great breakfast choices in the area, we certainly won't be going back to Sweet Melissa's anytime soon. more

I stopped by the Decatur Courthouse Square and just happened to stop in Sweet Melissa's. I'm really glad I did. The sandwiches are great. Not too expensive. Delicious fresh ingredients. Try some desert too. They're really known for those. more

As Decatur's breakfast scene keeps growing by leaps and bounds, the choices are starting to be a matter or personal taste. I dropped in a few weeks ago, with a good friend to check-out Melissa's, which has been around a few years. Pros: Basic Breakfast/Lunch Menu Cons: Need Something Extra To Open My Eyes! more

...and breakfast here rocks. There's nothing fancy here, just regular, familiar breakfast food done right. The omelettes are huge and filled with anything you want. It gets pretty busy on the weekends, so bring a paper or if you're hungover, sunglasses and a pillow. But it's worth the wait. Lunch and dinner here are pretty good, too. more

Sweet Melissa's has a great brunch on the weekends! Just what I need for hangover Sundays! more
