Great Salad Place 8/28/2005

Sweet Tomatoes is one of those good salad bars that you rarely come across when dining. Their vegetables and soups are actually quite fresh and tasty, and the prices are reasonable. Discount coupons can be found in the local newspaper: San Jose Mercury News. Sweet Tomatoes offers buffet style counters of foods, including a huge salad bar, bakery section, soup/pasta bar, and dessert counter. I absolutely loved this place, and recommend it to everyone. more

Solid price and meal 7/6/2005

So I went here the other day, around 2 PM for a late lunch which was $6.99. The salad bar was good not great, with meats lacking (I am a big fan of chicken in my salad and they have a mini chicken pack for an extra couple bucks available, which I thought was ridiculous). In terms of the soups, the chicken tortilla soup was perfect and the clam chowder was wonderful too. The muffins were incredible --- there was a mango and cocunut one for this season that my Mom and I loved. The ice cream bar had a nice selection of toppings, but the only ice cream cones are these baby mini ones! Where are the normal sized cones? I like Fresh Choice a bit more, although I would go back for the chicken tortilla soup if nothing else! more

one of my faves for salads 6/23/2005

I really love Sweet Tomatoes and have for years. A lot more girls than guys that I know appreciate this buffet joint because guys tend to be more protein oriented. I admit that the selection is sorely lacking in meat (the only morsel chunks that can be found are the boiled pieces of chicken either in the chinese chicken salad or the chicken noodle broth). I, however, am completely fine with chowing down on healthy greens and carbs. The salad selection is awesome and I frequently go back for seconds and thirds. My favorite soup is the chicken noodle because it is just the right flavor, not too salty. The clam chowder is yummy, too. Pizza is a must and all three different types of muffins in the dessert area are scrumptious. more
