Great time in Midtown Atlanta 4/14/2011

Decided to go to Sutra for a guys night out. We got there just before midnight on a Saturday. Had a great time!!! From the minute we walked in, Stephanie (the blond bartender) took care of us. She did an awesome job recommending different drinks and shots. Needless to say, we had a blast and made the right decision to go to her. As the night went on the crowd got bigger and bigger and was perfect for what we were looking for. Definitely recommend and when you get there, ask for Stephanie!!! more

Best bartenders ever! 10/29/2010

The reason to go to this place is by far the bartenders. So friendly and approachable. Ask them about drinks! I learned my new favorite Sake is ty ku and i also have a new favorite gin. Do yourself a favor. Check them out! more

great place! 9/27/2010

I love Sutra Lounge because each weekend night features something different and everyone from the door guy, to the managers, to the bartenders are super friendly! more

Where did Ty Ku come from? 12/2/2008

All I have to say is thank you to the bartender that turned me on to Ty Ku. It first caught my eye cause the bottle glowing green and when I asked the bartender was nice enough to take the time to show it to me and explain what it was. Following that, he made various drinks using Ty Ku. I was about five deep before my limit was reached, but I will be back for more. Thank you bartender who's name I forget... guess he did his job. more

Cool Midtown Spot 11/25/2008

Sutra is a cool midtown spot...it can be a little hitt or miss sometimes depending upon the DJ spinning. The crowd can also be hitt or miss...sometimes sexxy, sometimes a little rough. I'd usually pop in and if the music is right, will have a couple of cocktails and dance for a while. For the most part the clientele has been mature, diverse and there to party each time I've been which is why I'd continue to check in with Sutra when in Midtown. They have good security and I never feel like things will get out of control while there. Usually no cover for the ladies.! Pros: Good DJ; Diverse Crowd more

Enjoyed it! 5/25/2008

This is a fun place. I went for my 25th birthday. I was a little diappointed at first because it takes forever for people to start dancing. My friends and are were on the floor. About midnight, the DJ started playing songs we really enjoyed and about that time it really got live! It had a slow pickup but eventually got there. the service was good and so were the drinks. i would recommend it for a group night out. Pros: Overall good Cons: Slow pick-up at the beginning of the evening more

response to worst service review 5/23/2008

This is in response to the young lady who wrote the review about the poor customer service she received at Sutra Lounge. As a regular patron of this club for the past two years I have never received anything but the best customer service. I happened to be at the club that night when this incident occurred and this young lady has neglected to mention that her and her drunk boyfriend argued with multiple bartenders that they were not going to pay there tab because they had not ordered all of the drinks on it. Both bartenders seemed to handle the situation rather well and instead of arguing what was probably a losing battle they got a manager to deal with it. The couple refused to pay and I believe were escorted out. Here's a hint to the young lady that wrote the review, next time don't assume that no one else was paying attention to what was going because you now look like a fool. The bartenders and managers of nightclubs and there entire staff put up with alot of bs from all you dumb drunks that don't know how to handle there liqour. Next time think before you speak and maybe lay off the shots so that you don't embarass yourself by telling half-truths. more

Horrible customer service 5/16/2008

I was just at Sutra Lounge last night for a friends birthday. We were all drinking just having a good time...I had an open tab..To make a long story short, I went to go pay my bill and they said I was too drunk to sign for my bill, so my boyfriend was going to do it fome..well they would not let him. So they still had my card and then asked for my Lisence and I gave it to them...then they kicked me out b/c I was "too drunk" So we go outside and plead with the security to let us in to get my card and they refused...we also called the cops but they did not care! So we just left..I couldn't drive or do anything today b/c I had no lisence or debit card! We had to drive back there again from Duluth to get my cards..at $4.00 a gallon. You would think after dropping over a $100 they would cater to me. This place has AWFUL customer service and all they care about is money and not the saftey or care of their patrons...and the GM is a complete arrogant you know what! I will never go here again and I suggest that all of you who want to go out and party with friends DO NOT GO TO SUTRA! Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: SERVICE more

not the place to go 4/19/2008

me and my friend decided to go to sutra lounge last night and that was the reason the night was ruined. While standing in line we heard the doorman tell a couple of people that if they didnt have girls with them they would have to wait an hour, i thought that was the reason dudes went to the club was to socialize with women, but on top of that it seems like they were disrespectful to people of color, as they let caucasian and asian patrons in over african american americans, we felt really disrespected and left. Take my advice never ever go to sutra Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

My 1st Time There 4/12/2008

OMG! I had never been to a club before and my sister said lets go. So we get there and it was already a great vibe soon as you get there. I loved that there isn't a dress code. Although I dressed to the 9 last night. We ordered a drink and we started watching everyone dance. After I 2nd drink, we were rocking on the dance floor. It's such a friendly place and I really felt comfortable there. The drinks were awesome, the staff was very nice & the customers rocked! Thanx for my first great experience with a club!!! more

Good Times 3/12/2008

This was a pretty fun place. Me and my guy friends went on a friday night. Had guestlist so we didnt have to pay to get in. Its underground and kind of has the look of a brick loft. Drinks are kinda pricey but if you're a lady then that usually is not an issue. The music was pretty fun like a mix on an ipod...but i mean it in a good way. I met a couple people there that are good friends now so yes it is a good place to meet and mingle. Ummm...the vip room was pretty neat. Kinda like a "be seen" area. It was enclosed in a clear glass area so it was like being in a fishbowl. Pretty neat. All in all it was a pretty cool place and I would go there again. So if you're sitting at home with a couple friends and have a hankering to go out then check this place out. Pros: atmosphere, music more

I nice way to mingle 3/2/2008

I thought the music and atmosphere were pretty good. Loud at some moments but to be expected when you're in a crowded club. I also thought the dance selection was great and catered to a lot of different variety's. I certainly recommend and it's a great way to spend a Saturday evening! Pros: A great Mindless way to spend your Saturday night Cons: can get a little congested and the drink service was average more

No go.... 2/22/2008

One star only because I went to meet up with friends I haven't seen since college. The "atmosphere" is nothing more than more than a hardwood basement. The two-finger drinks are way above "it's Atlanta prices." The DJ is nothing more than a two-starred play list on any ipod. However, we did have a blast tonight observing the people that actually frequent this place. more

The best party spot in Atlanta 4/16/2007

Sutra lounge is trendy, relaxed and uber cool. I bring all my out of town friends to Sutra Lounge and I frequent there myself almost every weekend! If you want great drinks, beautiful atmosphere, slammin beats and great bartenders. Sutra lounge is the spot in the "A". Pros: Ambiance, parking (right across the street and very reasonable) and Service Cons: Drinks are a little pricey, but thats anywhere you go in ATL more

Very cool lounge with very cool music! 1/7/2007

This place is really neat! I have always been more of a pub guy than club guy...but the ambience was terrific, the music was awesome, and I was very happy with the overall experience! The drinks are priced fairly and the service by the bartenders and servers was exceptional. I liked the way the people up front at the entrance are dressed very "smart:" you know you're not getting ready to go into some cheesy place. I have been several times now and the dj's they have had there have been top-shelf. I am from Miami and have been fortunate to travel a lot -- and this lounge is one of those that you go into and you say to yourself, "This doesn't feel like we're in Atlanta." It definitely has a very metropolitan feel about it - more akin to Miami, NYC, Chicago...you get the drift. more

Great excursion from long-lines, stuffy, rude security, and cultureless patrons... 11/12/2006

My wife and I use to frequent Club Visions, and 112. But we never liked the "too young" crowd and the whole , entire "I just gotta get in this club" vibe that goes on at the door and with alot of the patrons. So my wife ( who's a Hennessey and navan promoter) worked at The Sutra Lounge one Thursday night, she was enthralled. We went there the following Saturday night and it's been our little secret ever since. \ The club has a cosmopolitan feel with a mixed crowd and different cultures. The Dj spins evrything from T.I. to Michael Jackson. The drinks are not watered down or over priced. And there are alot of beautiful people---men and women----to keep the eyecandy quota sufficiently satisfied. The security treated me with respect. The young lady at the register always compliment my attire. And they even have a grille going on the patio area. I'd recomend Sutra to anyone. But then it would'nt be me and my wife's own little secret any more. Pros: Dancing scene, beautiful people, and drinks Cons: dance floor could be bigger more

This is a nice chill spot 8/27/2006

I have been to this club twice and was treated like royalty. Being a woman of color I was impressed by the hospitality and the drinks were "fixed to perfection"! I was invited to join the people in VIP and there was much love in there!!!!! VIP included: drinks, plush leather seats, ceiling fans and rotating fans. What more could a girl ask for?????????????????????? Don't sleep on this club! Check it out! Pros: DRINKS, Ambiance and the service Cons: The club is very compact more

What a night!!! 4/28/2006

Pretty empty before midnight, but after that, the place was packed. Decent service at the bar-- although they don't know how to make a few drinks, the ones they make are packed with a punch! Nice patio, room to sit even when it was packed, and perhaps the best...NO LINE FOR THE BATHROOM! Awesome place, cannot wait to go back! Pros: Drinks, Good Prices, No Lines for bathroom more

not too hot 3/31/2006

very nice accomodating staff. the scene wasn't that great and the outside patio was ridiculously dirty. who wants to hang out in a stinky patio? the inside could be hot...not sure where they're going w/ the music....gotta decide on something and stick with it... Pros: staff Cons: dirty patio, disco mix? more

No cover, great AC, and a slamming DJ 8/22/2005

Sutra is a great place to escape the mega clubs, for a smaller vibe that's no less a party. The air conditioning was great, which keep me dancing all night long. The DJ on Saturday night played great music(Hip-Hop & Pop). The bar staff was fairly efficient (except for the fact they lost my credit card). It was a mixed/diverse crowd on Saturday night, including bachorette parties, convention goers, and regulars. To get in free, just bring a pass or e-mail pass from ANY other club and there's no cover! Pros: Great Atmosphere &A/C, Hip-Hop Music, Good Drinks Cons: Parking on Cresant more

  • Sutra Lounge is Atlanta's finest lounge/dance club and was voted one of the Top 100 nightclubs in the United States by Restaurant and Nightclub magazine. Sutra recently underwent a complete remodel and features deep red and gold curtains, warm ambient lighting, custom woodwork and an amazing outdoor patio. Like our clientele, Sutra Lounge is sophisticated, stylish and seductive. Sutra is known for having the best customer service in the business, not to mention the best weekend music mix in the city.

Editorial
  • The Scene
Swank without being pretentious, Sutra is a welcome asylum for upscale hipsters who want to see the plastic-surgery money spent on the decor and not necessarily on the clientele. While the general layout remains the same from the erstwhile Crescent Room, the immeasurably improved mood lighting allows for smoldering sideways glances, as well as the ability to see the drink in your hand. The ultra-lounge features both plenty of plush seating for tired partygoers and for those energized party people, plenty of room to shake it.

    The Draw
Those fortunate enough to gain VIP status will enjoy the partially partitioned areas separating the royalty from the crowd. The glass-enclosed back area overlooking the main room is a see-and-be-seen fishbowl, with its own fully-stocked bar equipped with enthusiastic bartenders. DJs vary nightly, keeping the dance floor hyped up by spinning an amalgam of contemporary and old-school hits.
