As a Chinese-American, I had high hopes for my first meal at Susanna Foo. What a disappointment! The cuisine should absolutely not be billed as Chinese food or even Asian food. ...

DISSAPPOINTED 12/19/2002

My boyfriend took me here last year for a Valentine's dinner. They said they only had an opening at 10pm. When we arrived, the place was half empty. We chose a prixe fix meal which was great besides the soup. It seemed like the soup had been simmering all day and night. The seafood in it was very hard by that time. We didn't appreciate hearing waitstaff being trained while we were dining. And we really didn't appreciate the waitstaff closing down tables while we were still dining. For a $245 dinner for two, it did not impress me at all. I would have enjoyed Buddakan much better at a cheaper price. more

Over rated 11/9/2002

I admit the food is good but not as excellent as its reputation. It is also fusion leaning and not authentic. Small portions. Cons: small portions, not traditional more

Foo on you 11/8/2002

I though that it was way over priced. I was expecting more fusion, but it seemed as though it was just very good Chinese food served on nice plate in an upscale atmosphere and a very small portion. The desert was excellent. Pros: Good Food, Great desert Cons: over priced more

The best in any city 10/24/2002

Chinese is my farvorite. I have eated in New York, San Fran. Nothing compares to Susanna's that I have tried. Not you basic Asian far by any means and more exspensine then any other, but it is exellent. From soups to filets just some incrediable tasking food. Cons: Exspensive more

Wonderful Atmosphere 10/4/2002

Susanna Foo has a wonderful atmosphere. The food is great--it's very refreshing to go to an upscale restaurant and feel completely comfortable that you will like what you order. more

This the best, forget the rest 8/25/2002

Truly , a grand adventure in the cularinay arts. Light refreshing dishes, marvelous service and ambience make each meal unforgetable. Pros: n/a Cons: n/a more

Rating 8/25/2002

Good, but highly overrated, in my opinion. Went once and have never been moved to go again. more

Not worth it! 8/8/2002

The food was good but also over priced. There are too much hype. The service was efficient but we had a cold reception by the owner's husband who should not be there for this type of hyped service. He was snobish! Get rid of him and the price paid might be better justified. I had a group of 10 people and we were all puzzled why this would happen in a restaurant like this. Pros: nice ambience, reasonable food quali, efficient service Cons: too expensive, poor reception etique, not worth it more

awesome 8/2/2002

susanna is a genius. her food and atmosphere are perfect. more

Good, but clearly pricey. 7/30/2002

Hugely pretentious in physical appearance, the service and food was nonetheless attractive and innovative. Of course, the prices were ridiculously high. At the end of each meal, however, I vow to return, since the food is what takes you there. more

Great but Pricy 7/20/2002

This is the best Chinese Food in all of Philly, but it is expensive. more

so-so 7/18/2002

I find this restaurant to be well overpriced for what you actually get. I notice that some of the produce that foo uses is not of the best quality and sometimes the dishes are incomplete. What i mean by that is what is stated on the menu is not always what you receive on you plate. Cutting corners to save money is one thing, but when you chargr that kind of money.......shame on you susanna foo!!!!!!! more

MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT 7/17/2002

If you are a fan of traditional Chinese food, avoid Susanna Foo's. The menu is nouvelle, with a Chinese influence. I did not find any of the dishes my party ordered to have been particulalry enjoyable. The meal was very expensive. I felt particularly gouged by the prices charged for alcholic beverages. The only thing memorable about my dining experience was my significant disappointment. more

Wonderful Treat to Eat 5/29/2002

This is the first time I can say that the entire dish was truely excellent! Even the wild rice with tiny black beans were fantastic. The rack of lamb was tender, favorful, and seasoned perfectly. The meal ended with a splendid desert. 10! more
