Sunflower Authentic Vietnamese

Whoa… I guess this is the tiebreaker review since the two that are up right now are on either end of the spectrum. My take on the place – I think if you had a bad experience there, you should give it another shot. Personally, I've never had a bad meal here. Generally, this is a place we go with a bunch of people looking for cheap grub before playing a gig in the vicinity (or sometimes after, to celebrate). Fried noodles, soups, all sorts of yummy tofu and spring rolls. Here and at Evergreen Garden are the only places I eat Vietnamese in the Mission. more

Vietnamese in the Mission seemed like a bad idea to me, and unfortunately my instincts proved correct. I found the food to be subpar compared to other places I've eaten at. I got the bun noodles with grilled chicken, and my chicken was just gross. Greasy and tough, and couldn't bring myself to finish it. My boyfriend's fried noodles were swimming in grease and cornstarch and were similarly inedible. Apparently we didn't read the menu close enough, as there is a note that says 15% tip is customary. Maybe we calculated wrong and slightly undertipped the waiter, but it was still rude and uncalled for for him to cuss us out and call us cheapskates in Chinese. Maybe he thought we wouldn't understand (okay I didn't, but my bf did), maybe he didn't care. Won't be back. more

This place is legit and 1/2 the price of Slanted Door. You can find great,fresh spring rolls, lemon grass tofu dishes delight, claypot chicken and even the amazing sea bass with glass noodles found at Slanted Door. Since Slanted Door bailed on the Mission you should give you business to this joint. Fresh,delish and the price is right. more
