This place was as great as was mentioned in prior reviews. Sadly on December 17th 2005 The Stone Balloon closed its doors forever. This venue hosted some of the biggest names in music, most before they were huge stars. Months before their debut album hit the shelves Hootie and the Blowfish played the Balloon for $600. Meatloaf in his larger days played as well. Bruce Springsteen hit the stage in 1974, the owners had a hard time getting him to stop playing. Dave Matthews Band played at Stone Balloon in the early years, the list goes on and on and on. This was a Delaware icon, now being razed for condos. more

College Bar 9/29/2005

Get a mug for 10 bucks and it pays off with time when you use it, especially on mug nights thursdays when you get drafts for a dollar. Which is either natural light or moose head or bud light. Nice bands come here, and I would say its the largest dance floor in newark, delaware. There is a 5 dollar cover except on fridays with UD ID. more

Wild party place 8/14/2005

I just love this place. It is located on main street, where all the action. The staff is great, the food is good. They also have a dance floor which turns wild and groovy on weekends. Great energy place for a college crowd. Easy to hit on chicks too :) A porch makes things easy for smokers And the live bands add to the excitement. more
