Lots of Fun Inside & Out!!! 12/16/2005

I would highly recommend this museum for children under age 8!!! My preschool-aged children never tire of the interactive & fun exhibits and crafts. Stepping Stones is always working to improve & vary their offerings, so things stay fresh and new for all! Membership is recommended so that you have access to member-only mornings that are nice & quiet, as well as other member-only events. There is a great playground attached to the parking lot for those nice days, too! more

Great for small kids 8/21/2005

This museum is geared towards kids under 10. It is a great local day trip. Interactive displays make for a fun experience, we especially liked the water room (they provide waterproof smocks) and the lego racing ramps. The food area is small but good and you can bring in your own food. No strollers allowed so if you have real little ones plan on bringing a snugli or backpack carrier. more

It's overrated for the price 8/16/2005

I have a membership to Stepping Stones and have been taking my kids there for a couple of years. I believe it is really geared to kids up to 5, over 5s might get bored. The membership here is VERY pricey for what this place is. There is a water room which is fun but you need to bring an extra shirt because your kids will be soaked. The Helicopter & train and rainforests are ok but need some updating. The special programs are fun we saw the Wildman (a well know naturalist) who gave us a foragers view of the parking lot (dead rat and all). Storytime is always fun. I think it's fun every now and then but if you go more than once a month you will become bored. Note: at the end of the parking lot is a FREE New playground called Devon's Place (it is specially built to be welcoming to all including the handicapped) lately my kids have been enjoying that more than the museum. more
