very good , i love how costumers can walk into the store at any time , & anyone working is willing to help you out no matter what the problem is !

Worst

This spot is nice during the day having many activities and all but it can defenitely be overrated as the best free spot in new york city

Love to write 11/15/2010

Very nice of view of New York from this ferry. I have seen my city with a different view. Nice Ferry more

Ferry Ferry where ya goin' 11/28/2006

This is the best ferry in the world. I love the ride this and check out the city. Everything is so beautiful and everyone is so friendly. Yeah! more

BEAUTIFUL VIEW 2/19/2006

If you want a magnificent view of New York City, this is the way to go - just don't go during rush hour. When you exit the ferry go to Bay Street and make a right. There's a fantastic Cultural Center which houses the ONLY Chinese Garden in N. America. It's is most definitely worth the walk or a short bus trip. You will pass the Major League ball field and if you walk in their park along the shore you'll get another great view of the city. Also, the most beatuiful time to see New York City from the ferry or the shore of Staten Island is in the evening. You would get a view of Manhattan you'll never forget. You can stand outside on the deck of the ferry on a warm evening. You couldn't ask for more for free. Pros: New Yourk Skyline, Staten Island Cultura, Close up view of Stat Cons: ferry isn't a luxury, bad during rush hour more

On my must-do list for visitors 8/21/2005

I lived in New Jersey for several years, close to Manhattan. Whenever I had out-of-town guests, we'd spend a lot of time in the city. The Staten Island Ferry was one of the things I'd always do with them. It's free. You get great views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. That part of Manhattan is very different from other tourist areas. It's free. The panoramas of the Financial District are fantastic. And did I mention that it's free? more

Must see 8/23/2004

The staten island ferry offers such a wonderful view of the Statue of Liberty, and lower manhatten. This ferry offers a great opportunity to take lots of pictures and take in the sights that represent American history and pride! Visitiors to NY: do not leave the city, until you take a ride on this FREE ferry! It is truly the highlight of a trip to NY Pros: views, free attraction more

I love the ferry! 4/25/2004

The kids and I lve to ride the ferry!! Back in the day when I was newly single and sleeping on my sister's couch, I would take the kids for a ride on the ferry just for something to do. We would people watch, enjoy the sights and get out my sisters hair for a while. In a world where very little is free, this is one of the best ways to commute to NYC. Pros: Free, did I mention- Free?, umm- Free more

Nice trip 9/2/2003

The best ""free"" view you can get of the Statue of Liberty. Stay on board for the ride back. more

Miss it the most! 12/4/2002

Lived in SI and commuted for years via the SI Ferry. Have moved away and miss that ride the most. There is nothing prettier than a ride on the ferry as the sun sets as background behind The Statue of Liberty not to mention the spectacular view of Manhattan. If you are into taking photos this is one of the best places to do it! Pros: View, Cost more

The locals were the friendliest 11/19/2002

it was a nice suprise to see such a famous attraction at a price I could afford. Everyone told us before we left Colorado not to look at anyone or dont talk to anyone. I met two of the nicest people while taking the ferry. We laughed all the way to the island. Then tourists got back on and no one wanted to even chat. NYers are awesome and their city is second to none. Take the ferry and see miss liberty on the ferry and save some $$$$. more

Staten Island Ferry 10/4/2002

I never thought just taking the ferry would be so much fun! It was relaxing and not at all crowded, and had great views and a nice breeze. I felt like just taking it back and forth for awhile...with a book and a lunch this would be ideal. more

Free water, liberty, cityscape 8/25/2002

You pile on, get on the side for the best viewing of the Statue of Liberty, you ""sail"" away, floating across the historic Upper Bay of New York Harbor, and the gulls fly along, and then there's Lady Liberty, and the tall, tall buildings of lower Manhattan, and you reach Staten Island and race back around to get on the ferry, and slide back, trying to determine what's Governor's Island and what's Brooklyn, and imagining Henry Hudson in this very spot, heading north towards the river that would one day bear his name, and the shores are covered in trees, trees, trees, as the canoes of the friendly natives paddle out in greeting. more

Fun and free! 8/24/2002

It's the best bang for your buck because it's free and it only takes an hour to do! I like to take visitors out on the Ferry because it you want to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island but don't want to take up most of the day to do it, then the Ferry has what you're looking for. It really does have the best view for taking a pic of Lady Liberty. And on the return trip the view of lower Manhattan is just the best. A Must-Do! Pros: easy to get to, Free, best view Cons: can be crowded more

Great Free attraction 8/24/2002

The ride on the ferry is a must because of the views. Also great on a hot summer day. Only drawback was there was NOTHING to do once you got to Staten Island Pros: Free, Great views Cons: crowded more

Free but the BEST! 8/23/2002

Nothing can beat a free ride that brings you across NY Harbor and within sight of The Statue of Liberty. It is the best bargain on the planet. more

Best free attraction 8/22/2002

The Staten Island ferry is the best free attraction in New York. Caught the ferry around midnight in April, it was cold but you had to stand outside to take in all the sights on Manhatten. Pros: Free, Value for money more

Best Secret Bargain In NY 8/8/2002

Visitors to New York City should grab a lunch from one of the many buffet-style take-out delicatessens in lower Manhattan, then walk down and take a free ride on the Staten Island Ferry. It is a twenty minute ride to Staten Island, and twenty minutes back to Manhattan. You can have a filling, yet inexpensive lunch, sit and rest your feet for an hour, and see some spectacular views of Brooklyn, Staten Island, New Jersey, Governor's Island, Manhattan, and the Statue of Liberty - all for free! (The biggest mistake tourists can make is taking the boat ride to the Statue of Liberty. It is long, costly, and will not meet your expectations.) Pros: Cheap, Relaxing more

Best View of Statue 7/30/2002

Why wait in long lines and pay money to go to Liberty Island when you can't even go to the top of the statue? The Staten Island Ferry runs often, provides great views of lower manhattan and the Statue of Liberty and is FREE. more

It's great to see manhattan from here! 7/20/2002

This is the ideal ride for economic tourists! I do it everytime I visit nyc. You can see the city from a point of view incredible! You'll never forget it!. more

hmm.. 7/18/2002

This spot is nice during the day having many activities and all but it can defenitely be overrated as the best free spot in new york city more

Wonderful View 6/23/2002

Wonderful View to the Skyline of NYC! Staten Island is a nice place to go to see the Skyline! Pros: Ride for free! more
