I am fairly new to Houston (from Rio) so I am not familiar with local business yet, but the guys at the shop made me feel at home, they were very thorough with the information about the films and performance (I'm an engineer so I'm all about specs). They did my A6 on a ceramic film and the installation was flawless, very happy with the job done. more

After calling several tint shops I ended up coming to star auto to check out their options for tint and all I can say is these guys are really knowledgeable about their products (which I like) and when I wasn't sure what shade to use, they even put some samples on my car. \r \r I am quite happy, hope to be back with next car.\r \r more

This was the first car I have gotten tinted in Houston. I have had others done in the past, and it was always a hassle. Star was recommended to me by the Acura dealer where I bought my TSX. Being a relatively new car on the market, I wanted to go someplace that has done one before...didn't want to be a guinnea pig. I got to Star kind of late in the afternoon, but they got me in and out in just over 2 hours. They took the time to explain the various products to me, making sure I got what I wanted, not just what they wanted to sell me. In the end, I got a premium product, for a great price, and it came out great! Funny story...while in the waiting room I got to chatting with another customer. He was getting his 7th car done with Star. When I heard the list of his cars, they were all primo...Mercedes, Bently, and such. It turns out I was chatting with Rico Anaya, the owner of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Houston; Cyclone Anaya's. He was a real nice guy and I look forward to taking him up on his margarita offer. If he has trusted Star to all of his nice cars, I knew I would be satisfied. I was, and you will be too. I scheduled an appointment for saturday morning, arrived a little early as suggested so we could discuss the available options.\r I went off to get lunch, the car was done 2 hours later, and everything looks great.\r They also took great care to explain the proper aftercare top insure maximum lifespan for the window film.\r Mark me down as a very satisfied customer. Went to Star Auto for my window tinting and new radio and sub-woofers. Top-notch job on the window tinting. The first time they tinted it, they called me and said that they wanted to re-do it because of a patch in the window. That showed me that they are proud of their work, and will ensure it's always right. The re-did it, called me in a timely manner, and got the vehicle back to me. Regarding the woofers and radio, they -being able to sell me anything the wanted- told me to not purchase a radio, because my vehicle already had a high-end radio, and they suggested to buy the woofer that was appropriate for MY car, and not their pocket. They have several woofers to choose from, and a wide price-range, but they were honest and told me that I didn't need to spend a million bucks for great sound in the type of vehicle I had. We just purchased a 2008 Acura RL and were very shy when it comes to having hood paint protection film and window film installed on it. Our dealer was asking too much for that so we started browsing the internet for a place to have these things done to our new car. We found Star Auto, called them and visited them to see samples of the films and take a look at the place. We liked them, everything was clear and completely explained, they gave us choices on kinds of films and also on the shades (I wanted dark, my better half wanted light...). The work done was very clean and we were very happy with the results and service. We made an appointment, dropped the car at 10 am and picked it up by 5 like we wanted and the vehicle was ready and waiting for us, ticket and documents prepared and we were given a complete explanation on how to care for the products and why. Their prices are very competitive, we found other places that were charging us more or the close but they did not invest any time explaining and the other two we visited did not even know their stuff. We went with Star Auto and yesterday my son went again to have the old scratched tint removed and re-installed on his car (05 Mustang) and came very happy and thanking us for the tip on were to go. I have a 2007 HHR that needed only the front windows tinted (stock rears are tinted from the factory). The price was a reasonable $90 for a color-matching 3M film with a life-time warranty. I made my appointment and they completed the job while I waited in under an hour. The staff was very friendly and helpful, however they didn't show me actual swatches of the tint, they only showed me a price list and film description. \r \r When my car was finished, I noticed some scraps of tint on the floor of my car. My car was a bit dirty already, so I didn't complain about it. I followed their instructions completely, and did not roll down my windows for 4 days until the film had set fully. On the 5th day i rolled down my windows for the first time and I saw that the edges of the film were jagged from the razor blade and on both windows, and both windows had a section that looks like it had been torn. This was hidden when the window was rolled up, but when I rolled the window half-way down I saw this imperfection on the edge. Also the rear edge of the film did not match the contour of the window. The gap between the edge of the film and the edge of the window was VERY big. Since both films must have been cut at the same time, they both had identical imperfections along the edges.\r \r In addition, the driver's window had a small crease in the center of the film, and the passenger window had several bubbles that had not diminished after 5 days.\r \r I returned to Star and they looked at the problems, and to their credit they immediately re-did the tint. On the 2nd time around the job was done very well. The edges were cut cleanly with no jagged edges and no notches missing from the film ripping. No bubbles, no creases either.\r \r If they'd done a good job the FIRST time, I would have given them 5-stars. But the fact that I had to take my car back to get them to re-do it, I will only give them 2 stars. Took my new car to Star for auto tint. They where very helpful and took the time to explain all of the options while giving pluses and minues. I never knew there was so much info around window tint!!!.... however it was nice to see they focused on customer service. Left my car to get the 3M tint treatment. Got a call way before the promised finish time. Upon picking up my car got a thorough explaination of what would happen over the next few days... And as promised had a perfect tint job after the filmed cured. Highly recommend Star Auto! Pros: Took time to explain options; finished job on time. Cons: Not the cheapest, but well worth the $$ more

We just had our car tinted with their BC 35 (very good work and the heat blocking is great) and an alarm Audiovox (with remote starter and pager remote). They took their time explaining all the options we had and went over all the questions we asked them. Real nice customer service and attention.\r \r We will recommend this store to all our friends, don't bother driving around other places, we did and still came back to them: Prices are fair and quality is good.\r \r L & M Schmidt. i also came back with some tiny bubbles in my tint, but i called them right away and they explained to me that its apparently normal for the first couple of days. hopefully theyre right, if not i'm sure they'll replace it. the place is great, the people are very nice and helpful, but as others said, they are pretty busy. so call ahead and make an appointment if you plan on going in. for the amount they charged and the service i got, this was definately a great choice. After all the great reviews, I thought I was not going to get a mediocre tint job... Basically I have to bring back my car and have them redo the tint. This was for the color stable 3M film, which definitely wasn't the cheapest I was quoted. But I also didn't want to skimp on poor workmanship. Just expected much better results... The people there are very nice and polite. Very knowledgeable about the products they sell. Yes, like another person stated I too watched a movie of my choice while waiting for my car. I hope the second time around they get it right... Pros: Great customer service more

I called a few other places before calling them and that is how I knew they had to do good quality work, they were the only ones that took the time to explain the options and specifications of what I was insterested in. When I arrived I was treated kindly and informed of all the choices I had. They installed an amplifier (Infinity 311a) with a 12 inch Subwoofer (Infinity Kappa 12.1D). That added a nice deep sound to my factory stereo. On my windows they installed the 3M Black Chrome %35 tint, this looks great on my car since it is a blue BMW M5, I must say the heat rejection of this film is fantastic. I am glad I decided to go there and I heard their advice on both sound and tint.\r \r Don't even bother with anybody else, I will go back to them with all my future vehicles. My brother went to star and had his windows tinted. They did an excellent job. I just had my car done and I'm very impressed with the service and the staff. A very courteous group with a lot of knowledge of the products they sell. I plan to recommend them to all my friends and family in the area who need tint. more

My son found them on the web and took me there to get his car tinted for Christmas. It went all fine and I just went back yesterday with my truck to tint the front 2 windows. I like how the give you options in price and quality and offer warranty that is valid with other 3M stores (this works great for me beacuse my son goes to UT Austin). The place is an automotive shop so there is no luxury but is very clean and the work was inmaculate. Pros: good quality work, lots of options, good location more

My wife and I just purchased a new Silverado and a C230K. First we had both cars tinted with their ""3M CS 35"" and looked very nice and sutil. I liked their lifetime warranty and how they explained how the process was. now I just took my truck back for a sprayed on bedliner and running boards so my wife could get in it. So far I have had a good experience with them. I found them on the web and called them up, they seemed to know their stuff. Pros: Clean place, Inexpensive, Fast Service more

After reading all the wonderful reviews and ratings for Star Tinting, I stopped by the store to receive an estimate (Re: Window Tinting). I approached the front counter and waited for 5 minutes as each of the 3 sales and staff people conversed among themselves and tended to their paperwork. It was as if I was invisible. After 5 minutes, I finally left in disgust...not one person ever acknowledged my presence. Obviously, business is good. more

08/08/06\r A bit more than 6 months ago they installed a remote start alarm system on my car and replace the film on 1 window, the work was good and I was very happy with the service. Last week my car broke down and the dealership did something to the alarm somehow that made it stop working. I took the car back to them yesterday and explained the situation (alternator broke, car towed back to dealership, they did something, now alarm does not work). They were very receptive at the counter, took the car in right away, 20 min. later one of the techs came to me and explained that whoever worked on the car had bypass the alarm, probably to test the vehicle but did not re installed some components needed for the remote start. He asked me for permision to reconnect the alarm and 15 min. after they were giving me the keys of the car for me to test everything... it worked fine again, flawless. I asked how much I owed them since the problem was caused by a third party and it was not their fault, they said ""Nothing at all, don't worry, just tell your friends about Us..."" I asked again and got the same answer. I am very happy with the way the take care of people. I will not try any other place.\r \r 11/09/05\r I've had my car for a bit over 4 years and had it tinted in Austin when it was new. The driverside rear window film was separating from the glass. I had a 3M LifeTime Warranty from the place I had it done and after searching for another shop to take it to I found them here. After inspecting the car they called I guess the 3M office or so and went ahead and replace the film that was bad. I had an alarm installed by them at the same time with remote start and worked great as well. I think they are reliable and can be trusted with your car. I was reffered to them by my salesman when I purchased the truck. I am new in town (from N. Orleans) so I asked for a good place to have my sprayed bedliner and remote starter done. Had some tint as well and everything was fine done. more
