Beautiful group of people. Fun, Comforting and Authentic 3/11/2011

Many of us have felt the economic hardships of late. I'm no stranger to it, myself. Having all my life I, like most of us, found solutions to go through my day-to-day life being responsible, diligent and framing my obstacles in a mature fashion. In my case, I found myself completely alone, due to the death(s) of my mother, sister and my beloved father. I was alone. No family. During my father's illness and ultimate death, I suspended my own business and found that I was unable to resuscitate it due to the economy. Here and there, I was able to find short-term employment whose income was simply not sufficient to pay even for my basic needs. Needless to say, I will admit that depression was beginning to gain on me -- even with my abilities of past of being diligent and working two jobs to make ends meet. Finding and keeping even one job was a trial. One day, while feeling especially trapped by my situation, I went to St Matthew's Episcopal Church -- Church, I felt was exactly where I needed to be. I spoke to Reverend Susan who took me into her office and helped me, not only in her generosity and charity but through her loving kindness and genuine care. She helped me by facilitating a grief counselor to reach out to me and nurture me, both emotionally and spiritually. I was able to apply for temporary financial assistance -- a foreign thought for me due to my pride. Many of the members, Cynthia, for example would be mindful of my circumstances and reach out to me -- invite me for coffee and friendship. These are wonderful people -- and such a beautiful community of people who follow the word of God -- in deeds as well as in His word. I'm so grateful that I walked over to St. Matthew's that day. Although nothing can substitute for the family I have lost -- it sure was a good day when I decided to go to St Matthew's that day. With no family to speak of -- I feel as if those kind and nurturing people with St Matthew's help me keep my family alive in my heart. Thank you. Bonnie Munro more
