with the exception of the womens center St. Marks hospital is a bunch of no talent ass clowns with medical licenses . After being profiled ( i have a ton of tattoos) for the second time , i have decided they are as prejudice right winged as you can get . I wen't to the er in march due to stomach pain they mis dagnosed me for dehydration and sent me home as i didn't have insurance at the time due to a window from my divorce . I went home and 2 days later ended up in ihc w/ my oxygen saturation at 52% i was dying from pulmonary adema . The nurse in the ER was so rude to me i couldn't believe it ! here i am a few months later my immune system is clearly still healing and i went in for a severe sinus infection . Dr. ben wilson asked if i do drugs , or there is a possibility i have HIV ? REALLY ????? i have tattoos so i must be a druggie , crackhead ! I had my 3 month old with me now i'm sure from all the bloodwork he'd be HIV as well not to mention all the other bloodwork i had at IHC !!! i think St. marks hospital is the worse dungeon of hell i've been to ...it may cost more to go to my family doc at ihc due to them not taking humana but i'll gladly pay it , they aren't as ignorant dickheads there . more

Our loved one had surgery at this hospital. The receptionist advised my husband and I that the Dr. would be out as soon as the surgery was over, to give us and update on how everything went. After surgery our names were called and we were shown to a consult area to wait on the Dr. after a 1 hour wait, the receptionist returns to her memory and comes in to ask if the Dr. showed up, we answered noooooooooooo. She than said oh! I don't what happened with that. Perhaps it was put on the chart no family waiting. I reminded her it would have been her responsibility to let the nurses know family was waiting, especially since she made the commitment that the Dr. would be out to speak with us. She replied oh yeah, well again I don't know what happened with that. Ultimately it was the next morning, during rounds that we spoke with the surgeon to find out what happened in the revolving door, money grubbing surgery area. I would not recommend St. Marks Hate-pital to anyone in need of quality medical care. Out of hundreds of employees you might find one that actually cares about the people they treat, and that's no hype. more

Stay clear! I had surgery there and was completely marginalized by the doctors, nurses and staff. Their only concern is making money as efficiently as possible. To make their work easier, they will heavily sedate you so that you can’t object to how they treat you. Additionally, they have no regard for patient modesty. No one I care about will ever go to that place again. I wish I knew then what I know now about what they think is acceptable “care.” more

BEWARE - ST. Marks are Dogs that BITE! 2/20/2012

The care seemed adequate but with a ""hurry you out the door"" attitude. Like at a busy restaurant wanting your table! BEWARE of the blood hounds after your insurance has paid though... They call before 8:00 am, and they will tell you EXACTLY which credit card you have available to put the balance on, right down to the nickel! Oh, don't worry, if the one they suggest doesn't work for you, they'll offer you another one that should work. We feel this is completely unethical, especially since my husband is fully disabled and receives SS benefits. Your good credit worthy history is in their hands - so, WATCH OUT! more

Many Excellent Physicians, But.... 3/23/2008

I've had many visits to St Marks under the care of 4 different physicians, due to chronic illness. \r In general, the physicians were great. And in some areas of the hospital the staff are also very good.\r But it all depends luck of the draw with support staff. During my latest and final visit my luck ran out.\r My nurse was a hideous and foul person named Letha. The best words I can think of to describe her are hateful, malicious and bitter. The story is long and involved but if you have a visit scheduled please remember that name! I rated the hospital a 3 overall. See pros and cons for justification. Pros: Many of the Physicians and Radiology Techs are very good. Cons: The radiology dept can be chaotic. A few nurses and support staff are vicious. more

Not Bad - It is a hospital ... 9/9/2002

I like going to St. Marks hospital for almost everything that I need. I have found only one thing that isn't the best about it, the parking. Not too much is available, but eventually you will find a spot somewhere! Other than that, the doctors are great and I enjoy being there - imagine that! Pros: Great Doctors, Coffee Shop, Good Physical Therapy Cons: Bad Parking more
