Great Zoo 1/11/2012

I love that we can go to the zoo for an hour or a whole day and have a great time. The train ride is great. The shows are entertaining. In the summer there are plenty of places to get out of the heat throughout the zoo. If you have small children, the children's zoo is worth having a membership for. It's a lot of fun. I think that you get better parking with a membership too. more

St. Louis Zoo Is World Class 7/31/2003

Having been to many of the nation's zoos, nothing seems to compare to the quality of the St. Louis Zoo, along with the fact that it's FREE. San Diego, D.C., Chicago, Omaha.... they all cost money and don't have the charm of St. Louis' zoo. The park surrounding it is fabulous - the site of the 1904 World's Fair. The large, open-flight bird cage in the zoo from the fair is a real treat as well. The new home to the penguins and puffins was especially enjoyable on a hot, July day. You'd be hard pressed to find a better zoo and at a better price! more

St. Louis Zoo Review 2/28/2003

This zoological is decades ahead of any other zoo I have visited, including the zoo in San Diego. The St. Louis Zoo has do a fantastic job in designing a park that reflects a more natural setting for the animals and, also, developed a large number of interactive events and areas for park patrons. The staff is knowledgeable, professional and very friendly, and the park it self is beautifully landscaped, well shaded, and impeccably maintained. Amenities abound for visitors, and you can even bring in your own lunch, if you prefer. All of this, and the admission price is $0. Pros: parking, location of park, no admission costs Cons: amenity prices high more

Open All Year! 2/27/2003

In addition to being FREE, the St. Louis Zoo is open all year long. Give it a try in December or January. You'll be surprised how ACTIVE the animals are! In the Summer, they are lazy and lay in the shade. In the Winter, they run around and play. It's great! And don't miss the bear feedings, around 4:30pm. Also, park on the street for free; the lot cost $7.00 Pros: Family Friendly, Educational, Always Adding More more

Best Zoo Ever 2/27/2003

I have visited zoos all over the world and none compares to the St. Louis Zoo. The St. Louis zoo is clean, attractive, and best of all FREE. Pros: FREE, good parking, clean more

free is far 12/19/2002

Don't misunderstand--I love the St. Louis Zoo, but "free" to me implies "no cost." I get many freebies in my mail--all with a shipping and handling charge. SL Zoo is much like that. True, the attraction is free--the parking near the attraction costs $8.00. Just keep that in mind before you make the trek. more

Free Zoo Visit 10/16/2002

I've been attending the St. Louis City Zoo for over 55 years. I always find something that's new, exciting and interesting. It's the best zoo in the midwest and it's FREE!!! Sitting in the middle of Forest Park right down the hill from the St. Louis Art Museum, also FREE - you can't beat the combination. Come and see for yourself. Pros: Free, variety of animals, current displays Cons: temperature in summer, some hills, cost of train more

Best In The US 9/25/2002

I've lived in many states and seen many zoos. Nothing can compare to my love of the St. Louis Zoo in my hometown because: 1) It is so beautiful you forget where you are....it simply takes your spirit to another place. 2) It's very large and has quite a variety of animals. 3) The animals looked healthy and no signs of mistreatment. 4) It is part of history dating back the 1904 World's Fair. 5) Children and Adults love the train that gives you a wonderful view of the park. 6) The Petting Zoo is enjoyed by all, etc, etc. It is simply the Best In The Us! Pros: inexpensive, many animals, beautiful Cons: lots of walking, no motorized carts more
