Sri Venkateswara Temple, located in Penn Hills, is one of the earliest Hindu temples to be built in the United States. As you can infer from the temple's name, the main deity here is Venkateshwara. Usually the temple is empty and quite. On the weekends, you can find college students and the cafeteria serves authentic south indian food. more

Oldest Hindu Temple in America 8/17/2005

The architecture of this temple is so unbelievably beautiful. I've gone there many times with my family, and am always suprised at the number of out-of-state cars in the parking lot. The temple is always very crowded, but I think that adds to the experience. This may sound weird, but I love the temple cafeteria. The tamarind rice is really good! And of course its all very cheap! more
