Best

I tried every fish and chipper in West Seattle and thought all of them sucked. Spud's was the last one. I had no hope whatsoever that his one would be any different from the rest,...

Worst

If you are going to visit Spuds, you need to drive out to the Juanita location. The location on Alki was bought and/or sold-out ... they are nothing more original than the fish-y...

I don't get it 3/24/2007

I don't understand the hype. When I moved to Seattle a few years ago, an OUT-OF-TOWNER recommended this place! However, when I ordered my scallions, I got -I think four?? for a ridiculous price (I want to say $10). It wasn't even that good... it was unique, but not all that good. Had it been half the price, my review would be three stars. The place is dirty, old, and odd. Swing by Ivar's to pick up some fried cod to eat by the water. Skip out on SPUDS ...it's a DUD! more

Very good, great location 8/3/2006

Apparently a Seattle classic. The fish and chips were very good, and contained a great mix of crunch and grease. The fries were a little soggy, but I wasn't there for the fries, just the fish. The clam strips were overbreaded, but got the job done. One warning though: don't take your meal outside to eat along the beach. Every bird on the beach recognizes this as an opportunity to get greasy fish and french fries, and quickly surround you. more

Crispy goodness 5/5/2006

Everything at SPUDS is crispy - and that's as it should be. They have all the varieties of fried and battered seafood - fish, clams, etc and you really can't make a wrong choice. The clams and chips are my personal favorites. They make good fries here - nice and crispy. I hate soggy fries! They also have a location on Alki in West Seattle. more

Spud has my vote! 2/20/2006

Love the location, the freshness of the fish & the fantastic french fries. Now if it was only low-cal! more

Always the same 11/22/2005

Every time I eat here it is the same. In fact once I came here with my grandparents and they said that this is what they remember from long time ago. I like them, they are different from other fish and chips, and I love their fresh cut fries. I also like the old fashoned feel of their restaurant. more

great shakes, great fish. 9/21/2005

Imagine a nice romantic dinner with a view of the water right outside the window. Ahhhh. And a nice big piece of fish with a pile of fries underneath and a gigantic shake to wash it all down. That is what I am talkin about! This place beats any other place on Alki for fish n' chips. Really. Have their special and share it with someone you love.....ok. or not. Trust me, it is good. more

The purpose of grease in food 9/12/2005

Spuds fish and chips are crispy and taste different from Ivars. Not better different, just different. They have all the usual varieties of fried seafood (clams, oysters, halibut, cod, etc). The french fries, in my opinion are some of the best in the Seattle fast food arena. When I am in Seattle, I will go out of my way to eat their french fries. Both the alki and greenlake location have a great views if you wander across the street from the restaurant. more

Fish & Chips! 8/30/2005

When I was a kid, the biggest treat we had was a Saturday afternoon outing to Spuds with my dad. Very little has changed about Spuds over the years. And that is why it is so great. The fish always tastes great (especially with the garlic vinegar). I love that they don't salt the fries, just fresh cut potatoes. People always say that the Greenlake location is the best, but for the scenery I prefer Alki. more

Spud's on Alki 8/16/2005

This little place on Alki had been around for many years. It has good seafood at reasonable prices. Since it is right on the beach and Alki is busy during the summer months, Spud's gets extremely full. However, due to it being on the beach, the views (if you get a place to sit) are awesome. If it’s too busy to find seating, have them bag it and take across to the beach and eat there. But watch out, the seagulls will be watching you. more

The standard 8/9/2005

SPUDs is one of the oldest in the area - I think the Green Lake location opened in 1940. It is consistently good and inexpensive. You can eat in or wander over to greenlake and eat on the grass or on a bench. more
