My family and I did a lunch cruise the weekend of 4th of July and the weather was great - the welcome was great, the staff was accommodating and very service oriented - the view was great - the pre-planning experience was also always very helpful and made the planning as easy as possible! Spirit Luncheon Cruise 7/13/2011

We went to the city for a combo 24th Anniversary and Fathers Day Cruise. We arrived and were greeted with big Hellos and Welcome. We escorted to our seats which were fine as we could view out the window while we ate our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The food served as buffet style was plenty, hot and very tasty. I especially enjoyed the Salmon. Once we finished lunch we went top side and viewed our cruise they were very informative on where we were and what we were approaching.. We finished our topside about 20 minutes prior to the cruise ending and we went back inside and found waiting for us at the table to fabulous deserts. We would defiantly return for another cruise and would like to experience the Dinner Sunset on in the near future more

Great College Reunion Event! 4/6/2011

Hofstra's School of Communication faculty and alumni had such a wonderful time on the Spirit of New York last June, we jumped on booking our second cruise this summer! Sure, working out the details with a university legal staff can be tedious but Margaret at Spirit was SOOO incredibly patient and willing to make it work. Definitely worth the battle. The staff on board could not have been more helpful - the DJ, the bartenders, the wait staff. I had a minor issue that was resolved immediately and I couldn't be more pleased. And their ticket people were wonderful, too! The food was fine - not great - but our open bar package and great service more than made up for that. I brought our famous Hofstra cookies and that was a big hit, too. (Some places won't allow food in.) The only complaint I got from everyone was that the 90 minutes was too short. Wish there were a way to add half an hour at minimal cost, but there isn't so we're going to do 90 minutes again. I have no doubt we'll get a great turnout. more

Spirit Cruise 1/23/2011

My Fiance & I just recently joined the dinner cruise 01/16/2011 and we chose not to guarantee a window seat for the extra $50.00 because of the way they lay out was set up. Needless to say, we ended up seating one table over from the window and saved $50.00. The food was great, my favorite was the salmon. The only thing I did not like was u could not go upstairs because they were having a private party. The Martini glasses were so tiny, they probably could only hold a shot, that was a rip off. Oh yeah and the had the heat on hell! Overall the cruise was very nice, rather expensive. We paid $204.00 and that was with no upgrades. I do recommend you taking it if you want a romantic dining experience and you get the best pics of the Statue of Liberty on this cruise. more

Breath-Taking View & Live Entertainment 10/24/2010

Got a pair of comp tickets for VIP lunch foliage cruise and I was so excited to be on board. I know I am guaranteed to have a good time. So the cruise is 3 hours long which takes you from Pier 62 Chelsea Piers to Hudson River. The scenery was amazing; you saw the change color of foliage. The lunch buffet was pretty good. It was not 5 star but it is all-you-can-eat so I cannot complain. I really like the grilled chicken and mashed potato they serve. The desserts are probably the best among all. The cheesecake and chocolate mouse cake were great. We got 3 hour open bar so I got a nice Signature drink, which provides the glass as a souvenir. On top of all these, they provide on-board live entertainment. All the waitresses on board are awesome singers and they each sing a song or two throughout the journey. I had an awesome time on board and would definitely recommend to people who want to enjoy a great view of NY and a relaxing sail. more

NEED A CELEBRATION IDEA? Look no further. 7/29/2009

I needed somewhere to take my girlfriend for an anniversary and stumbled across ""Spirit Cruises"". I always heard of dinner cruises and wanted to take one, but never looked into it because I thought it would be too expensive and not worth it. Not only was the Spirit Cruise affordable, but it was awesome. From the time you arrive on the pier and get your photo taken, to the time you depart and the crew sends you off, the experience was well worth it. The food and desserts were delicious, the entertainment was great (some of the waiters should be on Broadway), and the sights are amazing. The Statue of Libety, Brooklyn Bridge, Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum are only a few of the many things you will see on your cruise. And when night falls, the view only gets better and provides an excellent backdrop for a breath taking photo opportunities, a romantic star gaze with a significant other, or just good time spent with friends and/or family. The cruise has all the right ingredients to cook up an evening you wont forget. Dinner, dancing, great people, and sights, everything you could ask for. I look forward to my next cruise and would recommend Spirit Cruises to any and everyone. Pros: Great views, Great food, and good times! Cons: I had to leave at the end of the evening. more

Really great fun! 6/23/2009

We've been on many of the harbor cruise/dinner yachts here in the city. This one is my favorite. It's the right mix of great foods serenading staff; city lights; statue gazing; dancing & drinking. Pros: good for all ages; great view of Ms. Liberty Cons: stairs more

awesome view, excellent service & good food 6/12/2008

I needed a special venue for my Mom on her 60th birthday and i was very glad to find out about this cruise. As reviewed previously by others, it met our expectations in service, food and the view. The performers were very good and sound system was excellent & not too loud that we could have conversation w/o a problem. Staff were very friendly & professional- one of them even taught my Mom Salsa! Tip is included in the payment when i reserved the cruise --our rate was 70 per person for sunday night andit came out to be about 110 after adding one drink, tax, service charge and separate tip for drinks. i would go again for my special day. Highly recommended. bring your camera! Pros: attentive service, manhattan skyline, good food Cons: a little expensive drinks, service charge & fees but worth the money more

To not participate in this adventure is to rob yourself of a true treat that New York has to offer. 4/6/2008

We took the evening dinner cruise on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. From the time we boarded the Beataux I know we were in for a treat. Our waiter Sean was exceptional. My husband, step son (age 10) and I are from the land lock state of Colorado. We are in the hospitality industry and it takes a lot to impress us. This was a true example of hospitality on the water. From the ticket counter to the docking we were treated like royalty. We knew that going on the cruise would be a nice treat, but were absolutely overwhelmed by the level of service, the abundance of choices on the menu and the final result that was gracious placed in front of us at each course. The crowning moment was the extreme close up that we enjoyed of the Statue of Liberty. Though it was a little chilly standing out in the night air to see her that closely, it was beyond worth it. I could not recommend an activity more highly for tourists and locals alike. I have family heading out to NYC in June and they already have this cruise as a must do on their list. To not participate in this adventure is to rob yourself of a true treat that New York has to offer. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. Pros: Could not think of a better way to see New York CIty more

Good night out!!! 9/16/2007

Me and my wife were celebrating our first yer anniversary so we decided to go on our first dinner cruise. We booked a Spirit of New York cruise leaving from Chelsea Piers, and you know what for what we spent on the cruise it was worth it. The crew were very polite and courteous the minute we got on board. We boarded @ 7pm and were led to the bar for some drinks. (DRINKS ARE A LITTLE PRICEY SO BEWARE I payed $8 FOR COORS LIGHT, $10 FOR MIXED DRINK-Vodka Cranberry and $12 for a strawberry Daquirir, in all I spent about $50 for 5 drinks). We then were sat upstairs for dinner and introduced to our waiter who was a very nice guy who catered to our needs(SERVICE WAS DECENT). Food was good don't expect NYC 5 star food but it was good. The entertainment was good and the DJ was also good it was a great mix of youth and middle aged folks celebrating all kinds of things so he played all kinds of music (so just go downstairs and dance) but the Star of the cruise is obvisouly NYC ,bring your camera you can get some great pics.As for attire everyone was dressed business casual very classy I have to say for the other folks on board. In all though great cruise , definetley will do it again.I hope this review helps I was very skeptical about dinner cruises. Pros: Food and Service good. Clean Facility. Good Entertainment and music Cons: DRINKS PRICEY!!!, PARKING AT CHELSE PIERS FOR 3 1/2 HRS $35 more

Latin Hot Nights???? 8/27/2007

Ummm where do i start, I liked the view of the city, the Statue, the convinient location of the boat... but that was it, the people on that boat were rude, loud, obnoxious, and bad dressed.... The food was below average.... rice, overseaoned chicken, tasteless fish.... The AD clearly said.... No Chains or Jewelry, Hats, Strictly dress code.... most o the people looked like they were to a P. Diddy concert. NIce to do it once but never again.... I'm really dissapointed Pros: NIce Manhattan view under the 3 bridges. Statue of Liberty, not 2 pricey Cons: Horrible crowd, below ave. food, more

More than one way to see the city... 11/12/2002

My fiance and I recently wanted to see the city and deceided to take a dinner cruise. We selected Spirit cruises because a friend of ours had nothing but good things to say about them, and let me tell you he was right. From the beginning, we were met by friendly staff memebers, and the convienent parking at Chelsea Piers made it easy for us to get to the boat. Once we sailed, the top-notch food and live entertainment sold us on a unforgettable evening. No doubt the next time we want to go out for a special occasion or are entertaining guests from out of town, Spirit and Bateaux will be our destination. Pros: Reasonable Prices, Good Parking, Ample Room on Boat more

July 4th - like a bad wedding 7/7/2002

Fireworks cruise was bad. Everyone on top deck had to look straight into the cabin to see the fireworks, started shouting ""Turn the boat!"" Crew didn't care; other boats on East River were turned. Had wrong station on for simulcast. Entertainment was weak, not needed. Food OK. Mixed drinks were bad, had to switch to beer. Worth doing once but that's it..... more
