Just stopped by Speddy's 2/17/09 on my way home from work, as I do every week or two, to get a couple of burritos and a large chip & dip...and as soon as I pulled up I knew soething was wrong. I have not seen alot of cars there lately, but then again they are never packed. On the window was a new sign for a Vietnamese Noodle Soup kitchen. I went in and asked about it and they told me the restaurant was going to be both Speedy's and Vietnamese. I ordered and waited longer than I have ever waited at Speedy's before. When I got home and unwrapped the burrito I noticed it was very hefty and stuffed full, but that first bite told the tale--it was awful. The beef used is not the same, the 'Speedy's' taste was GONE! The chips & dip were equally disappointing. Those of you who remember when Speedy's closed before, became a rib shack, and switched back to Speedy's know how I feel. It was a good run of years since then and I always said I would not be able to live without a Speedy burrito...and that day has come. I can at least make them at home very similar. Die hard Speedy fans I regret to tell you it is over...again and I do not believe it will return as before. Sorry to bring the bad news. The only defense I will allow them is they tried to really give your money's worth on the size of the portions, but it IS NOT SPEEDY'S! I ate less than half of one, only a few of the chips/dip and I threw the rest out. I firmly predict that it will be exclusively Vietnamese in the coming weeks. I may even go there for the Noodle soup, but NEVER again for Mexican. Another great, rare place to eat is finally in it's death throws.
Pros: Good size portions
Cons: Completely different taste and products used, awful
