Our favorite place to eat when we visit New England! 8/31/2008

There are only a handful of restaurants that I consider the VERY BEST and Spain is one of them.\r Truly one the finest restaurants we have ever been too and every time we are in the area that is always our first choice for fine dining. We love this place and the atmosphere, service, food is always exceptional. We have never been disappointed and look forward to our next trip there. Pros: I love everything about this place and every time we have been there we have great waiters and flawless service Cons: Never had a bad experience yet and we've been there 4 - 5 times over the last few years. more

Poor Customer Service 9/17/2007

My husband and I decided to dine at Spain recently on a Friday evening. We have friends and relatives that rave about Spain. We have been there in the past and while not exceptional, the experiences have been ok. On this occasion my meal arrived so overcooked that I could not chew through the meat. We called our waiter over and explained the problem. I asked for a simple fish dish as a replacement. It took the kitchen about 20 minutes to prepare it. In the meantime, my husband asked to have the manager sent to our table. We watched the waiter speak to the manager. The manager continued to bustle around the dining room, greeting customers. He did not come to our table. My meal was finally served and my husband asked again to see the manager. Once again I saw the waiter speak to the manager. He continued to chat with other customers and finally came to our table. When he arrived he just stood there without introducing himself of asking if he could help us. My husband pointed out that it shouldn't have taken two requests to get him to our table. We then explained that the meat was unacceptable. The manager then said that I had ordered it medium well and that's the way they cooked it. I explained that it was far beyond medium well and it couldn't be chewed. He said they only carry the finest quality meats and he would bring out the raw chops so we could see the quality. I told him that wasn't necessary, nor was it the point. He blew us off without an apology and left our table. When the bill arrived, my chops were off the bill and the fish dish was on it. We will NEVER dine at Spain again. Had the manager been cordial and expressed an ounce of concern, we wouldn't have such a strong negative feeling about the restaurant. Restaurants in South County deal with lots of one time tourists throughout the summer, but it's the local residents that support them year round. They would be wise to treat all of their customers with care. Cons: Noisy, crowded dining room, rude management more

Best in the area 9/7/2004

I have enjoyed this restaurant every time I have gone. Everything on the menu is top notch - the specials are to die for. Last year my husband and I sat out on the deck for our honeymoon and enjoyed a wonderful view. Pros: creativity, location more

Over Rated Restaurant 3/18/2003

After waiting an hour and thirty minutes on Valentine's Day we were led to a tiny table literally wedged between two others. The noise level was much greater than one would expect in a ""romantic"" setting. The service was impeccable, but we've had better food at Capriccio's. Perhaps the crowd was because of the voting results - we will give it another try when it isn't a holiday. Pros: Service Cons: Noisy, crowded more

A meal fit for a king 7/29/2002

On each special occasion, we dine out at Spain and it is always the best meal and service we receive anywhere. Pros: Sangria, Meals, Service more
