too much money for pseudo hipness 2/15/2010

I paid an extra amount added to the ticket web's pirate ransom to avoid a line at willcall. That was BS and they made us wait with people in line that didn't pay the fee. The bouncer tried to frighten the crowd into paying valet to avoid getting parking tickets, the bartenders didn't give a hoot about CS and measured the booze they poured with a scale, the crowd was happy to stand around stepping on each other's tows, crowding in front of each other like lemmings and the sound man was an idiot who had no idea what he was doing with a mixing board, but looked cool with his dual 12 inch powerbooks. What a joke, never waste my time here again. Pros: cheap Cons: rude bartenders, money grubbing staff, crowd too hip for me more

I will never go back 2/18/2009

I've been hearing about this place for a while and was excited to finally end up there for a show. 20 minutes later I was outside saying ""I will never go back in there"". The bartender was rude and unprofessional. The sad part is I work in a bar and have for ages. When I am disgusted you have to screw up pretty thoroughly. Oh and they allow smoking inside. Gross. Never again. Pros: cheap Cons: Terrible service, rude waitstaff, smoking inside bar more

Great venue 10/24/2006

I've seen many shows here and have loved every one. The closeness of the band to the audience and the sound were very good. I also really enjoy the varied artists they have. This is my favorite place in LA to see a show. It's small, and personal with the artists walking around afterwards. If you ever get an opportunity to get to a show here, you must go. more

my favorite live venue 7/2/2005

i've seen so many good bands here, including a few that are arguably too popular for a venue this size...huge mugs of Red Hook...$10 cover? you can't go wrong Pros: cheap Cons: can get too packed more

Budget Rockin 1/17/2005

Forget the hack, tired strip if you're looking for new, interesting and edgy sounds. Silverlake is the place and Spaceland is the finest in the hood. With an adventerous booking policy and the oh-so-cool Free Monday ""artist in residence"" program, not to mention the smoking room upstairs, this is THE place in LA, east or west, to see toonage. Rawk On! Pros: great bands, free Mundays, smoking room more

Best L.A. hipster scene 6/17/2003

This is one of the few clubs in Los Angeles that has good live original music on a regular basis, rather then the pay to play clubs that line Sunset and surrounding areas more

I went and saw the fog at spaceland recently. Spaceland is a good room to see bands, mellow indie rock atmosphere.Reasonably priced drinks, smoking area.Go there and check out a band. Pros: good live music, inexpensive drinks more

best (small) concert venue 6/26/2002

a great little black hotbox for seeing your favorite (usually) unknown rock bands. reasonalby priced drinks. never too long of a line for a drink. laid back. lots of walks of life. fun place. Pros: good shows, decent prices more

Good Smaller Venue 6/13/2002

Spaceland gets some really good acts and has a cool and cozy atmosphere. A nice smaller venue. Pros: Atmosphere, Music more

my other living room 6/13/2002

Comfortable local club to see/hear/experience interesting live music. Cover charge is never too bad. Always a fun evening. more

In A World of It's Own 6/13/2002

Always fun with a great mix of people. They always book fun, entertaining people and bands, whether it's a solo artist or an LA favorite. The dancefloor's great and complete with disco ball. If you're not into that, a soundproof lounge is at the top of the stairs with a pool table and some seating which may be scarce on the first floor! more

Good Music 5/21/2002

Great place to play if you are in a band, also a great place to see bands. Always crowded with entertaining people. more

Out of this world 5/20/2002

Clubs may come and clubs my go, but thankfully Spaceland remains a fixture in the live-music scene. The bookers bring in up-and-coming touring acts, yet maintain a local flavor. Since they revamped the stage a few years back, seeing a band here is a better experience. more

MY FAVORITE PLACE 5/16/2002

Spaceland is always so fun..You can never have a bad night here. This place has probably one of the best bookers in town; the best new talent always plays here. The best part though is that they have a sit down Pac-Man machine. It is warped on one side of the screen so when you try to escape the ghosts eat you anyway. It is funny!!! Chomp Chomp Chomp!!! more

Perfect Small Venue: Loud & Relaxed 5/14/2002

Cheap drinks, cheap cover & great indie bands. Check out fun up-n-coming acts: The Katies, Lords of Altamont, some great band from Toronto that only sings in French, etc. Ive been there on off nights toobut the smokers lounge & Ms. Pacman always save the day. Pros: great music, cheap cover Cons: can be crowded more
