I was not comfortable with the level of care I received and it is located in a bad area of Maine. When I transferred care, they sent me to collections immediately! I did not even receive a bill from the hospital before they did so! Drive to Maine Med instead, where you will be treated better. I do not recommend this hospital. more

Southern Maine Medical Center (SMMC) 7/30/2005

SMMC is a good hospital overall. It's medium in size but has a small hospital atmosphere. Their location is excellent; they're near the turnpike exit, so people needing medical attention in the surrounding area can get there quickly. There's plenty of parking. The gift shop is small but very nice. Their labor and delivery department has really improved over the years and is now quite good. more
