Ahhh, a movie for under $10... nice! 3/15/2010

It's nice to finally see a movie and get snacks for under $10!! Somerville Theatre's selection isn't always the most varied, but when they have good movies they're a lot cheaper than going to Regal or AMC. The snacks are also pretty cheap, and they serve BEER at the concession stand!! The seating isn't as comfortable as the big chains, but it's definitely worth the money. Walk downstairs to visit the Museum of Bad Art - if you have a movie ticket stub I'm pretty sure you can get in for free. more

a very nice affordable place 2/10/2003

Bargain movie price at only 4 bucks weekdays, fresh popcorn with real butter, one huge screen with a balcony, also some smaller cinemas that ave funky character. Staff is friendly and laid back non-corporate atmosphere, a mom and pop feel to it. They get some good films, why pay more at the big theatres, wait 3 weeks and see them here! Pros: Inexpensive, Clean, Has Character Cons: Second Run Movies more

Nostalgic 1/18/2003

Seeing a movie at this theatre takes me back to what it was like when I was a kid. I love the main auditorium. It's not very clean but it's fun just to be there. Pros: quaint, movie selections Cons: parking limited, not very clean more

seating_nightmare 8/2/2002

The ""official"" review says that there was a $1 million dollar renovation. I don't know where they spent that money b/c the I recently saw a concert there (in the balcony) and the seats were circa 1950 and nearly too small for an average sized person to fit into. To be honest there was one row of new seats (wider and with cup holders) in the balcony, but all the others were awful. Plus the numbering system is a mess, with some seats displaying three different numbers, and several seats in the same row with the same numbers! Nobody could figure it out, and there's no ushers to help. Also paint was cracking off the ceiling and the sound mix was terrible (could hear the lead singer). Other than that it was great. Pros: bands, small size Cons: seats, sound quality, old more
