Absolutely delicious. My husband and I went to Italy on our honeymoon. We had spaghetti arrabiata in Florence that was just heaven. When we came back, we dined with Sole Mio. Their spaghetti arrabiata tasted EXACTLY the same. I have to agree they are the real deal. Try their pumpkin tortelloni (large tortellini). It's divine. more

Being Italian, I can tell you this is 5/31/2012

Being Italian, I can tell you this is the real deal. This is the food that my mother and her sisters used to cook when I was a boy. I came in after a long day and was warmly greeted and chose to sit in the bar. Their wine selection is impressive. I had the Al Fredo with chicken and it was perfect and the carrot cake amazing. Nothing near this good where I live in Arkansas. Don't miss this if you are in Nashville, it is a hidden gem. more

Exceptional service, made fresh pasta, excellent wine list....just 100% Yum! more

Real Italian in Nashville 12/10/2011

This is my go-to place before downtown concerts and probably my favorite restaurant in Nashville. If by myself I will just eat at the bar but I have never been late to a show when seated with a date. I have never ordered off the regular menu; there is always something on the specials menu which sounds better. The cioppino is to die for; lobster, swordfish, mahi, shrimp and scallops over homemade pasta with a spicy tomato sauce! When it is not on the specials menu, the other pasta specials have been equally spectacular but didn't put all my favorites on one plate. Tiramisu for dessert is mandatory and memorable. more

Fuori di questo mondo!! 2/22/2011

This place is amazing! The service, food, wine and atmosphere are top notch! I couldn't of dreamed a better place to celebrate my 10 year anniversary. We had the eggplant rollatini to start, followed by the caprese and isalata di mare. For our entrees we had the chateaubriand and the cioppiono. Delizioso! They were so sweet they gave us a complimentry dessert for our anniversary, Carrot Cake...OMG! Will definately be back. And for those who knock it: Va' Fa Napoli! more

Terrible. Bland. Taseless. 2/19/2011

We went for my birthday dinner, a party of five. We had reservations for 7 pm and had to wait about 10 minutes for the hostess to even show up at the door. The server was chatty, I suppose, to cover for her lack of polish. She served a refill of ice tea that did not have ice in the glass. ""I swear, it's cold!"" she joked. The salad and bread was tasty; the meal went downhill from there. I had spinach gnocchi. It was bland, just tasteless. The house red sauce was just a joke---bland, bland, bland. My husband ordered a steak medium rare and it came to the table drenched in bernsdaise sauce--- and bloody and cold. We sent it back; the server was apologetic- ""I don't do the cooking, you know."" My mom had beef crepes and they were without flavor--a plate of mush. The dessert was ok. The bill came and the waitress had chosen to grat a table of five 20%. This was outrageous; the standard procedure is tables of six or mare and 18%. The menu did not state this unusual policy. On the way out, we saw the health department score of 84. We will never return. more

We loved it! 6/25/2010

We had a great time at Sole Mio. Began with a caesar salad, which was reccommended by our server..Definitely the best caesar I've had in a long time. The pasta is so satisfying and perfectly al dente. Our server was very patient with our table and never made us feel like we were taking up too much time..She reccommended a ""Super Tuscan"" wine we had never tried and it was perfect with everything. We felt totally at home! We will be back for sure. Pros: Homemade pasta, professional staff more

IF YOU KNOW ITALIAN FOOD, THIS PLACE IS SUB-PAR 5/15/2010

This is what a good Italian restaurant is: an unassuming hole-in-the wall place that gives you butt-kicking food in unimaginable quantities. Nashville does not have a single one. Not one. I'm originally from Massachusetts, lived in Rochester, NY for 10 years and have eaten in some of the best dives in New York City. Every Italian restaurant in Nashville is a disappointment to someone who knows Italian food. Sole Mio is a place that you can go to impress a naive first date - but make sure that she can peek at the check so she knows what a big spender you are. DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT take an Italian here. He or she will think you're an idiot. Pros: none that I can think of Cons: High Prices more

Yummy Authentic Italian Food 5/10/2010

My fiance and I took my mother to Sole Mio for Mother's Day. Our server, was funny, but a bit brash and seemed to be the only waitress working that night so she was running around trying to take care of everyone (our reservations were for 9:15). Everything from the bread, to the Caesar salad, to the spinach tortellini in Mama Rosa sauce was scrumptious. The chocolate mousse cake was yummy, but surprisingly I've had better. The servings were plentiful and we loved the ambience of the restaurant. For coffee, one Caesar salad (it was big enough for us to share), 3 entrees, and one slice of chocolate mousse cake we paid $82. Recommended. Pros: Yummy food, very romantic Cons: Waitress was a bit over the top and rushed more

Don't understand the hype? 4/16/2010

not sure if it's because we're from utica ny where all there are are italian restaurants, but the food just wasn't good. we ordered the antipasto platter for two and it was just ok, then we both got the gnocci with vodka sauce. the gnocci was undercooked and was just plain mushy and the sauce was awful. it tasted like a wet rag, we had to add salt just to be able to eat it. i was really excited to have found an italian restaurant in nashville that wasn't a chain but this just doesn't cut it. Pros: fast service Cons: the food wasn't good more

Fantastic hideaway! 3/30/2010

This is my new favorite Nashville restaurant, hands down! The owners are fabulous - a true Italian restaurant owner and his beautiful wife. Carlo's stories are amazing and he won't hesitate to sit down and spend a half an hour with you at the bar over a glass of wine telling you his stories and listening to yours. Pros: Romantic setting, Fantastic Food, Great Staff more

Awesome 3/10/2010

I had been wanting to try Solo Mio for a long time and am so glad we finally made it. The food was perfect (I had veal and my date the chicken) and our server Tracy was not only very friendly but knowledgable about the wines and helped us make a wonderful selection. We have already made plans to go again with friends. Pros: food - service - wine Cons: had to leave more

The best food ever! 3/3/2010

First time eating at this restaurant and I had the best experience. It is a very romantic restaurant that has a great location. Everything from the bread to the desert was great! I will recommend this place to all of my friends! Pros: The food as so good! Cons: no cons. more

finally we made it... Truly Superb. 2/26/2010

Visiting Nashville is something that I do from time to time for business. I almost always stay at the Hampton right by Sole Mio and for a very long time I have wanted to try this little restaurant. And, having my wife along with me this trip we finally did. Sole Mio is not cheap, but it isn't as expensive as other restaurants that have tablecloths, candles, and fresh flowers. It is a perfect little 'splurge' to do with a date. And, I would have to say it definitely won't be the last time we splurge a little. The food was outstanding and simple and the service was amongst the very best we have ever had anywhere. Pros: Close to downtown hotels. Cons: closed on monday. more

Little italy meets nashville 2/25/2010

I recently moved to nashville from nyc. I desperately miss the hustle and bustle as well as the amaxing food available in my home city. A friend recommened sole mio to me, and I was not disappointed. This restaurant has amazing traditional italian cuisine as well as large portions that will leave you more than satisfied. The ambience is great for intimate dinners or a dinner party with a group of close friends. I will be back again soon for my taste of NY here in Music City. Pros: traditional italian food, big portions and warm feel Cons: not open on monday more

italian stallion 2/25/2010

On a recent visit to nashville, we dined at Sole Mio as suggested by a friend. Sole Mio in nashville is a great 'old school' kind of Italian restaurant. The space is very intimate and romantic, with fresh flowers and candles. Pros: great food Cons: going alone more

Highly Disappointed 2/21/2010

I guess the first mistake made by Sole Mio had nothing to do with our dining experiece last night, rather the woefully poor decision made by ownership to move from what is arguably the best view into downtown to a ramshackle faux Italianate one story cinder block space that lacks any character and offers no views whatsoever. I digress, the fact that the space had no character really didn't taint the dining experience, but the poor service, cold food & higher priced than necessary mediocre Italian fare was quite disappointing. Stay away if at all possible and be sure to ask how much the symphony special is before you get taken for a nearly thirty dollar ride to cold food capital. Cons: Limited ""Italian"" food selection, poor service & bad atmo more

Meh... 2/18/2010

I've eaten here a few times: a couple at the old location, and a couple at the new one. At the old location, it won Best of Nashville for ""Restaurant with a View"", now it's tucked next to overflow parking for downtown events. Coming from the northeast where Italian food abounds, I was never blown away by the food. I mean, it's good. It's just not what you'd want for a last meal on deathrow. The last time I went (at the new location), I was uninspired. The food was (again) just OK, but this time they had to raise the prices to cover the move to the new location. Needless to say, it wasn't that great to begin with, and was overpriced at the old location. This is a bit sad, given that there really aren't many non-franchise Italian restaurants in Nashville, and just about all of them are merely acceptable in the food dept, and in that regard, they're usually inconsistent. Sadly, I've taken to eating at the upper-end franchises, as the food is always good (if not terribly creative), and predictable. I just can't see dropping $80-120 on a meal for 2 that's just: Meh... Pros: Acceptable food Cons: Inconsitency more

Steller Food & Service 2/17/2010

My husband and I had a great experience recently at Sole Mio restaurant. The food and service were both just as awesome as we had hoped and the wine list was spectacular. Many friends have recommended this restaurant to us and we were very pleased with our visit. We will definitely be back! Pros: food, service, wine list more

Terrible Food and Rude Owners 2/16/2010

My last visit to this poor excuse for an Italian restaurant remains burned into my memory and I can't seem to let go. I remember being charged for something I did not order and when I politely brought it to the waitresses attention, I was vehemently and verbally attacked by the owners, asked to leave the restaurant, all the while being humiliated in front of a large crowd of people. They both followed me back to my car to make certain I was leaving. This is beyond description and only shows the mentality of these people. Pros: Homemade Pasta Cons: Salty Food, poor service, disgruntled management more
