We had some issues with our ex pediatrician misdiagnosing our sick newborn son. After several weeks and several trips to the hospital, we didnt know what else to do. The baby started losing weight, couldlnt keep food down and was unconsolable crying. The issues continued and the constant unrelievable crying. It broke my heart to see him in pain and not know whats wrong or how to help him, nor was i able to comfort him. I wasnt comfortable calling (our pediatrician at the time) and I didnt want to make another visit to the ER for us to be sent back home with no answers. I called a friend of the family who had similar issues with her grand baby when he was 3 weeks old. She suggested we call West Deptford Pediatrics. I have NEVER had any problems with Dr. Mishik or any of the other doctors at West Deptford Pediatrics. As a matter of fact, when my son was about a year old he had bronchiolitis and ended up in the hospital because he wasn't breathing well. The ER doctors gave him a breathing treatment and gave me a # to call for a company to get a nebulizer...they told me to call the company on Monday..meanwhile this was a Friday night! I called Dr. Mishik, he personally came to the ER, got on the phone with the medical equipment company and had someone waiting at my home with the nebulizer that night. My children are now 15, 11, and 9 and even though we moved over 1/2 an hour away from their office, we never considered changing to another pediatrician. They are all informative and take their time with each child and their parents'. When my children are sick I can call the office in the middle of the night and they return my call within 15 minutes with emergencies. They are very accommodating when it comes to bringing my children in for their annual visits, they will set enough time aside so that I can bring in 2 or 3 at once so that I do not have to come back 3 separate times. Was happy with them until Dr. Mishik saw our son today. He picked my child up from a LAYING position by his hands. He proceeded to hold him in the air over his head (still by his hands) and then dipped him 1/2 way to the floor and then back over his heads (yes, by his hands) 5 or 6 times. I was shock!! The doctor told my husband subsequently over the phone that he was testing for TONE and BALANCE. We've not been able to find any other instance of a doctor doing this type of test. Furthermore, I was told by a Pediatric Physical therapist who works with children with Tone and Balance issues, that this is NOT any type of test that she's ever heard of nor would she ever pick a child up by their hands. I had to drag my husband back into the house when I told him. He was going to call the police and have them meet him up there. Pros: ZERO Cons: Poor Bedside Manner, picking kids up by their hands, inabilty to put simple information into charts! more
