Shelley is great! She listens to what you want, gives good advice, and produces great results. I've used her for years. I've also had Kathy and Michael cut and dye my hair, and I've been *very* pleased every time. The staff is friendly. I love this place, and I highly recommend it. more

I have been coloring my hair (in all shades) for years and all over the country. Jennifer Runion is one of the very best colorists I've ever been to. I've gone from bright red to black with purple or blue or red highlights to dark brown with blonde highlihghts. My hair has been healthy and shiny throughout. I am constantly complimented on my color and cut, to which I give Jennifer all the credit. She is a genius! My cut is quite simple, however I've seen several clients of hers with fabulously complicated cuts. I highly recommend her and Sling Blades in general. Shelly is the best! After moving here from Syracuse, NY, I tried 4 or 5 places before I found Shelly. I love to wear short, funky styles with unique color. Shelly nails it every time! While I was growing out my hair she managed to keep me from looking shaggy and gave me an easy to style, cute cut at every stage. She always has great ideas for my hair color, and is adventurous and fun. She is always up to date with hair trends, and can make sure you look fresh! Shelly is super hard to get into to see because she is so good, so make sure to book a few weeks before you think you will need a hair cut. I had a business meeting the next day and needed to get my hair cut and styled . Leigh was able to fit me in at a moments notice and she made some excellent recommendations. I just moved here and have had a difficult time finding a talented stylist since moving to North Carolina. LEIGH'S talent for style and color is more than I could have hoped to find here.I wanted a completely new look. I went in with a couple of pictures and Leigh helped me come up with a style. I told her that I wanted new color, but told her to pick the colors based on her experience and what would look best with my skin tones. I could not be happier with the result. i've been looking for a new salon for some time, so i looked on city search to read some reviews. i decided to try sling blades based on what other people had to say, and they were right! this is the most beautiful and comfortable salon i think i've ever been in. i walked in not really knowing what i wanted to try with my hair, Leigh was my stylist and she took the time to go through some books and make suggestions on what she thought would work best on my hair. between the two of us we came up with a cut that i love.. this is one of few salons filled with friendly faces, and you can actually feel how this team works together. if you try sling blades you will never go anywhere else! What a beautiful salon. I felt like I was in New York. I just want to say that any African-American woman looking for someone to take care of their hair, get it to a healthy state with minimal product---any woman really, then Helen is your girl!!! I scheduled a facial with Kristi and she was great. She educated me on my skin's health and it needs. She made me realize how much my skin represents my health. She removed every blackhead and gave me the best enzyme exfoliation. My skin still feels super soft and smooth. Thanks Kristi, I will definately be back. Cons: Great Atmosphere more

Helen is an excellent hair-care provider, and I could never imagine going to anyone else. She works with all hair types, in particular African-American women's hair. Her styles are always professional, and most important, she is concerned about the health of my hair. Since she became my stylist, my hair has become much thicker and stronger. I went to Sling Blades for the first time today because they were having a special on hair cuts. I was really impressed by the decor and couldn't believe that I didn't have to wait to be seen. Helen may possibly be the best stylist I've experienced. She looked through my hair and analyzed its condition and told me what I would need to have done. She deep conditioned my hair, washed it, and cut it. Afterwards my hair looked the best it ever has! The service was fast and extremely professional. I would highly recommend Helen (especially for the African American ladies) but all of the other stylists I observed seemed to be really great as well. I plan to return to Sling Blades soon! more

I have VERY thick and hard to manage hair. Every other salon I've been to the stylist will just eventually give up (and I thought that was a given) while coloring and cutting my hair. However, Rachel took the time (5 hours!) needed to make sure all the layers were colored evenly and the cut was distributed well. She also made it fun for me because I could tell even though she was working hard at my hair she still made it a good experience for me because of how long it took. Seriously every other stylist I've been to they would start coloring for an hour and then would rush which makes me nervous about the outcome. Rachel made me feel comfortable and relaxed while being professional. I can't stress enough how awesome she is and I will definitely be back! I have been seeing Shelley for several years, and would highly recommend her services. She is always willing to try something new and incorporates the latest color and cutting techniques. There have been several times that I have brought her a picture of what I want my hair to look like, and she always nails it! What I love best is that her cuts are so good, I receive compliments on my hair not only right after the service, but up until I'm ready for my next trim. The atmosphere at Sling Blades is very calm and serene so you don't have that loud, hectic feeling like at many hair salons. I definitely feel pampered and like I leave looking my very best. more

How do you define a great style? Some people think it has to do with the brushes and combs one uses after the cut is done. Some people think it's all about a special hair product or color combination. However, I've decided it's something entirely different. It's how the style responds to ANY adverse situation from humidity to lack of tools. In my case, two weeks ago, I had my routine style and color done at Sling Blades. I had my usual GREAT service and FANTASTIC CARE. It's so easy to take that for granted once you've found it. However, yesterday, I woke up in a hotel room, had my shower and realised I had forgotten my hair brush as well as other styling tools. I was going to an important meeting and had no time to replace these items and get to my appointment. There was no comb in my bag either. Fearing a BAD HAIR DAY, I used what I had: a little bit of hair spray and hair mousse. So using my fingers to work the mousse through my hair, I then blow-dried my hair and used a bit of spray. My hair isn't super short either. It's about four or five inches or so in length, down to the collar of my shirt. I would call my look high maintenance. But with that little bit of work, in FIVE MINUTES, I looked just as great as if I had used my styling brush and combs for the usual fifteen. What was that then? Just another taken for granted GREAT STYLE from Sling Blades. So guys and gals, if you want to avoid a bad hair day when the unexpected happens, I suggest getting your Style from Sling Blades. Every experience I have had at Sling Blades is SIMPLY WONDERFUL. The atomsphere is calming and inviting. I followed my stylist, (Shelly who is wonderful by the way - in every way - cut to color to conversation) and have loved the change. I was resistant at first, but am so happy with Sling Blades as it is so professional while relaxed at the same time. The staff is always up to date on products, techniques and styles. Also, I am not overwhelmed with pounding music or noise in the salon. Having a busy schedule, I welcome my personal time at the salon and find Sling Blades calm, unhurried yet effecient with my time. Being a regular customer you are appreciated and recognized by everyone of the staff. It is the atomsphere every salon should strive to achieve. I highly recommend the salon. Also, parking is easly !
