Skyline Club is one of the oldest nightclubs in the south. Near the airport, you will find this massive bar and a large dirt parking lot. Anyway it is only open Friday and Saturday night and usually they offer a dance lesson early, either a line dance or couples dance (two-step, cha-cha, swing.) When you walk in you pay a $5 cover charge, I think it might be a bit more if your under 21, and then you will see how big this place is. It has the largest dance floor in Columbia and a large stage which hosts a band every night. The dance floor gets filled up for classic line dances, (carolina tush push-if you know the tush push you will easily pick up the carolina version, electric slide, watermelon crawl, save a horse, goodtime, swamp thang, cleveland shuffle, reggae cowboy, copperhead road, and boot scootin boogie, if you dont know the dances most good dancers will show you if you ask) However the problem is that the dj doesnt call any dances out or know anything about dancing so sometimes he will play an electric slide twice in a row, and stupid stuff like that. Two steppers will enjoy Skyline because the dance floor is so big you have plenty of space to dance since not too many people know how to two-step, they really should offer two step lessons every night. As far as the crowd goes you never know who you'll see on a given night, but there are many regulars who go every weekend, college kids tend to show up later unless they come early for the dance lessons. Drinks and food are well priced and the burgers are delicious. I wish they would get some better bands and maybe a better dj. Usually Saturday night the place is packed by 1030 and is a great time. Anyway this place is a great country bar until the "booty music" comes on between 1130-1230 then it gets pretty wild but everybody has a great time. If your in Columbia you should try the Skyline club for a great time and as a mix up from the Vista or 5 Points.
Pros: Huge dance floor, cheap drinks.
Cons: Questionable bands and DJ
