Sierra Smiles Dentistry And Orthodontics

I went to Sierra Smiles when it opened in Auburn in 2009. I have never had any dental issues. I had 7 cavities when I was 18 years old and I'm know 55yrs and have only had cleaning going forward. When Dr. Mark Brown informed me I had periodontal disease, I was speechless. I was told I could not have my cleaning until the periodontal was taken care of. Dr. Brown sent someone in from the billing department to go over the prices (which were outrageous). I was very upset and told the person I was not going to have the procedure done as I knew I did not have this problem. I walked out of that office as fast as I could. I've been to a dentist since and was told I only needed a cleaning and had no other problems. I was also told I had health gums and teeth. They should be ashamed of the way they do business, preying on innocent people. The rating to me is a zero, but given I had to rate at one before continuing. more

Yea this place is very fancy and modern with all the bells and whistles but when it comes down to it they are there just to ripp you off! No kidding. I went there months ago and they said I had periodontal disease and said it would cost $700. The receptionist didn't explain anything to me and just raddled all these high tech terms off. I later found out $100 of this was for a sonic toothbrush. I saw a Dr. Foulk who was very rude and condenscending when talking to me and he was just plain smug and sarcastic. I got a second opinion at another dentist and they said I didn't have periodontal disease after all and actually needed a crown which Dr. Foulk failed to recognize. Oh, he's a real professional. My other dentist couldn't beleive he couldn't see my decaying filling but yet was going to charge me $700 for unnessessary treatment. Lesson learned, get a second opinion if you are a new patient and someone is saying you need that much work at that price. Sierra Smiles looks good from the outside but is really a sham. more

I went to this office because my insurance is honored there, and it looked modern and professional. I was convinced to upgrade my crown to one of their much touted CAD/CAM crowns they mill in house and that would be complete in "Two Hours." I spent 4 and a half hours in the chair being roughly treated by a Dr. Foulk who left for an hour during my treatment to work on someone else, and then came back and stuck a probe into a live nerve because my numbness had worn off. When he asked for more anesthetic the assistant rummaged through a drawer for a while saying "It would be nice if these were labeled." At no point did the dentist give me any feedback on what was going on or what would happen next, and rather than asking me to tilt my head this way or that, he would just grab me and reposition my head in a decidedly brusque, he also stabbed my lip with one of the root probes drawing blood, but did not offer an apology or anything like that. The office seems to have spent most of their resources on the front office staff, fancy xrays and networked monitors that advertise cosmetic services to you while you sit helplessly with a block in your mouth waiting for the dentist to come back and finish the $1500 service that was promised in about 2 hours multiple times. I have a major dental phobia and this office has only made it worse. Now I have a temporary and have to go back to this awful place again, although I am considering finding someone else to finish the crown. more
