Great crowd, great location!

I went to SideBar last night with 3 other friends to watch the Yankees game. And everything was good. The drinks came fast, as did the food. The food was fine, not superb, but ...

Love the Staff 11/19/2008

I know it seems weird to write a review based on the staff of a place, but thats how great they were. It was my friends birthday and they were so accommodating and wonderful and even brought her out a dessert and free champagne. I was so impressed. I don't know if we were special or if thats how they treat everyone but they really were fantastic. Pros: staff was amazing more

Great Friday Night Spot 11/18/2008

Went here on a Friday night recently- it was a lot of fun. A lot of people dancing, hanging out. Lots of people but not overly crowded. I will be back soon. Pros: big enough to hold a lot of people more

Sidebar is great 11/16/2008

I think Sidebar is the perfect bar- it is comfortable, not too expensive, and you can have a great dinner or lunch while you drink. As a Penn State fan, I love this place even more- because all the penn state alum come here to watch the games. Pros: Big Space, Penn State Bar more

Good Spot 10/2/2008

I go here for happy hour during the week and late night on the weekends because I like it so much. The staff always remembers me, and I like that. Also, if you are there for happy hour and happen to be hungry, the food is very very good and different from typical bar food. Gets crowded so go early and stay late. Pros: Great atmosphere and food more

Great Bday Here 9/25/2008

Last weekend I had my birthday here and I am so glad I did. I originally chose it because of its close proximity to the place my friends and i were going to dinner- While it was crowded, I didn't think it was too much- it was a huge party and we were all dancing and having a good time. We drank heavily- didn't spend too much money and we met new people. That is my idea of a great birthday. If you are looking for a place that isn't too uptight and lets you have a good time, I would say Sidebar is a good option. Pros: fun, can dance, good crowd more

Great Food, Great Music, Great Scene... 9/2/2008

I was at SideBar recently on Thursday night. It had a great crowd with a very nice showing of attractive girls and the crowd was mostly middle to late twenty-somethings that live locally or like myself, traveled from the UWS...The DJ was playing great music that progressively got better as the night moved along. We were there for some dinner and split a couple of appetizers and they all were awesome. I highly recommend the mini-burgers, but the menu had some great choices and I can tell you that when I'm back I will be trying them all...I have already recommended this place to all my friends since I had such a great time. The staff was very nice and there was never a long wait to get a drink when the bar was crowded. I am already looking forward to my next visit with a couple of the boys next weekend. Pros: Food, Music Cons: Didn't drink enough more

My New Favorite Spot 8/21/2008

So, a friend and I randomly found sidebar only a few days after its opening, before the kitchen had made its debut. We were walking to union square and heard the music, so decided to stop in. The owner is a great guy, and the staff is rather friendly! After looking at the food menu, we knew it would easily become our new favorite spot. The menu is definitely not your traditional bar fare, and I'd say it's nothing short of amazing. We've eaten twice and both time ordered the ""mashed potatoe bar,"" which is excellent (blue cheese are the best!) Each time we've been there it's been packed, but we somehow always find a place to hang and have a good time. There are two seperate bars back to back, so it offers easy service. If not for anything else, go for the two for one happy hour! I trust that you will have a great time! Pros: smoked salmon nachos, mashed potatoe bar, two for one drinks more

SideBAR is a great time. 8/13/2008

I?ve been hearing so many good things about SideBar that I had to go check it out on Friday night. The food was amazing and definitely not your typical bar fare and the drinks were just as tasty. There was a DJ, and he played a great mix of music- I was dancing all night! The staff was super friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was by far my favorite part. The bar is gorgeous- very simple and modern and there are separate rooms, each with a different feel. I have to say SideBar is too nice to simply be called a sports bar. I highly recommend that everyone go check out SideBar. Pros: atmosphere, food, service Cons: ? none more

Honored to be the first reviewer of Sidebar 8/6/2008

What an honor to be the first reviewer for a new bar on citysearch!\r \r I threw a going away party for a girlfriend at sidebar which is right downstairs from my building. We reserved the private room (think it's called the tasting room???) and wound up staying really late because of the great DJ. The place got crowded but wasn't unreasonalbe. the staff from the manager to our waitresses to the security were all super nice and accommodating. They were super organized and prepared for us when we arrived until we left.\r \r The drinks were great (try the white peach sangria!!!!) and the food was so tasty (try salmon nachos and mac n cheese mmm) and unique for a local neighborhood sports bar (I might protest calling this place simply a sports bar) The manager, Zak, showed me the entire place and I liked the fact that the 3 rooms each had a different feel to them which keeps the place exciting.\r \r Overall, the place is far more than what I expected and a great addition to our neighborhood. My friends and I are so happy to finally have a fun and upscale local bar. Pros: private party rooms, happy hour specials, sangria list, excellent food Cons: took me a while to find the bathroom (which was really nice by the way!) more
