Go some place else 3/24/2012

Like the previous reviewer pointed out, it's so obvious that they had people post positive reviews on themselves. The comments are too overwhelmingly positive for this place. I would give it an ""eh"" at best. Comes complete with a doorman and velvet ropes as if it's a night club-it clearly isn't! The crowd here are mainly bridge and tunnel types, people that work in the area who are too lazy to seek out a less obnoxious bar. They make the music so insanely loud to make up for bad food, bad drinks and a bad crowd. Unattractive and messy drunks galore. Yuck! more

All these 5 star reviews of this place are obviously the employees or the manager making fake accounts to give this place glowing reviews when all the real reviews are terrible. The pictures all all bs default pictures. This place is one of those typical bridge and tunnel bars that are trendy for 15 min make a lot of money, then go under. Not recommended. more

This Place Blows! 3/28/2011

Went here for a party with a drink special. They said they had a room reserved but there wasn't. Also the drink special was from 11pm-1pm, if you got there after 11:15pm the kept you on line till 12:30pm. The List do not matter for this place. They have about 6-8 lists for the place but your party is mixed in with everyone else. I know this because the Birthday girl was stuck outside for her party till almost 12:30pm. They also only had 1 bartender for about 80 people. I rather drink a 40oz in a park. There are so many better places to drink in the city, you shouldn't waste your time with this place. more

Sports AND Late Night venue, who would have thought 3/29/2010

Attended the Syracuse game watch thursday night, place was packed, great turn-out, specials for all cuse fans made you feel right at home, to bad we didnt end with a win. Also that saturday I had my friends birthday there. Got right in, waitress service was friendly and fast. DJ spun great music from top 40's all the way back to some 80's. I highly recommend this bar any gathering Pros: 2 completely different vibes both amazing atmospheres Cons: recovering the next day more

good hangout 3/8/2010

hung out for a friend's birthday on Sat. nite. Good-lookin crowd, mostly mid 20's to mid 30's; T.V.'s viewable from anywhere in the lounge if you're there for a game. drinks slightly on the pricey side but good. Pros: nice mix of people Cons: drinks alil pricey more

Went to sidebar for superbowl sunday to watch the game bc my friend has reserved us a table and the place was packed. They played great music and we all got pretty wasted but from what I remember, sliders were awesome and so were the spicy wings. We'll be back. CHECK YOUR BILL! 10/23/2009

I went to SideBar last night with 3 other friends to watch the Yankees game. And everything was good. The drinks came fast, as did the food. The food was fine, not superb, but it is a sports bar afterall. All the TVs had the sound on and all of them were showing the game. And there were plenty of TVs. HOWEVER, when the bill came, there were a TON of mistakes. I handed the bill back to our waitress and told her she gave me someone else's tab. She said that, no, this was indeed our bill. There were 2 food items on the bill that we never ordered as well as several drinks. I had two conversations with her and two conversations with the manager. They took a few of the incorrect items off the bill but refused to take the others. The manager then proceeded to insult me, tell me that I looked drunk and called me a liar! (P.S. I had 2.5 glasses of wine...not drunk!) It was pretty terrible. So...my advice is: If you go to SideBar, keep track of what you order and check your bill! Pros: lots of tvs Cons: daft service; rude manager more

Great Bar Great Drinks! 4/20/2009

I honestly hate how crowded bars get due to space constraints but SideBar works it out! There are crowds...hot crowds ;-)...but you can still chill with friends and have a good time. The bartender was attentive and made a KILLER dirty martini. And the food was top notch and totally unexpected from a bar. Wondering where to go? Perfect fit for Union Square 2/22/2009

Been coming here for a little while - no complaints whatsoever! Every time I come here, no matter what occasion, it's all good. Just tried the food tonight - a lot better than any sports bar I've been to! the bartenders always hook it up, and the waitresses are hot. there could definitely be more bathrooms, but i'll live. am def making it my main spot for saint pattys - who says no to 1 buck draft buds? BEST BRUNCH IN NYC---SIDEBAR 2/3/2009

Went to side bar for brunch on a Saturday. The place is warm as are the employees. The crabcake Benedict was unbelievable and came with an incredibly tasty chipotle hollandaise. The drinks were just as good. I had a great bloody Mary and my friends loved the mimosas. I will come back here again for brunch. The regular menu was just unique. GO GO GO more

Finally a Fun Bar to Watch sports in Union Square! 1/26/2009

I met some friends at SideBar this past weekend and it was a blast! I love Irving Place but there have only been cute restaurants to go to....SideBar filled the void of bars in that area and its super fun! great drink specials and a very fun crowd. It was crowded but very fun! Pros: Cool, Fun, Good Scene, Awesome area, Union Square more

Music is just ok, Bouncers can't protect patrons 1/11/2009

I went there for the first time on Friday night. The music got progressively better as the night wore on, but it took forever. Some of the bouncers are a**holes and not that bright. Not only did they fail to control some of the drunk guys who were bothering other patrons, but when one drunk guy started a fight with a couple who were off in the corner minding there own business, the dim-witted bouncers decended on the wrong guy and totally overeacted in trying to throw him out. They did finally throw out the idiot that started the whole thing, but you can tell it was more about puffing up the chest of the bouncer and not about protecting the patrons. I doubt I'll being going back. more
