I was there with my 2 kids today and tried to order them the kids meals with a veggie burger instead of one of the many meat-based options. However I was told that I could not do so. First they told me that the patty was too big for a kids meal, (which is NOT true, because I've had the Earth burger there many times and it's not dramatically bigger than a normal patty at all) and then they said they didn't have it priced out and that the veggie burgers were too expensive to put in the kids meals, So basically since there was no ""button"" or whatever that added an extra dollar or whatever to the price of the kids meal, I couldn't get them one. Now any parent knows that when you do the fast food thing with your children, the kids meal is the whole deal, kids know that. They expect the kids meal experience. I don't take my kids to fast food restaurants very often at ALL so this was a very rare treat for them. I also drove quite a bit out of our way to go to Shivers specifically since they were a local restaurant and I like to support local businesses over mega-chains. However I was very much disappointed at the response that I got and felt that even though I try to make a point to support somewhere local I would have had less hassle just to go to the MickeyDees down the street. So I just had to order 2 veggie burgers with fries and split one between my kids. They were ""nice"" enough to give them one of the toys so I suppose they tried a little but would it really be that hard to throw an extra fifty cents onto the price of the normal kids meals for the veggie burger option? I'm pretty sure I won't be taking my kiddos back there any time soon, and definitely won't be considering it to be worth the time and effort to go as a special treat. It's sad that this place left such a bad taste in my mouth.
Pros: Good choice of veggie burgers
Cons: Unless you're feeding kids
