Best

This place was great. We visited this place last week and it was fun together with my family. The kids were pretty much enjoying watching the show. Definitely we will be back here...

Worst

If you only have limited time to visit the Museum Campus, I would make the Shedd the third stop. The Amazon Rising exhibit is quite nice, but this museum isn't as interesting as ...

Head to Brookfield Zoo instead! 7/17/2012

After you add in the inconvenience of traveling downtown and dealing with traffic, you also have exorbitant fees for parking. If you are... more

Had so much fun 2/26/2012

Great family activity! 9/14/2010

Great family activity, we go there at least once every summer with the kids - never gets boring! more

FantaFlop 6/1/2010

I am not sure how you can have a baby buluga whale and have a show like this. What a missed learning opportunity. This is by far the worst executive decision I have ever seen. This shows concept, idea, and funding should have never happened. Pros: Nice Clean exhibits Cons: Soon you will have to pay people to watch the show more

Jaw Dropping 4/22/2010

Most amazing place ever! It really is jaw droppin. They have everything you can ever imagine and the dolphin show is pretty cool. Must see!!! Pros: Most amazing place ever Cons: Pricey more

FanFreakingTastic 4/22/2010

I just adore this place ever since I was a little girl - take a day off life and come here - make sure to find out which exhibits are showing at which time and GO ! Pros: So much fun more

OMG It was SO boring! 12/21/2009

My husband and I spent fifty dollars on tickets to see the ""AMAZING"" Shedd Aquarium because it was all hyped up as one of the best attractions in Chicago. Yeah... not so much. After paying FIFTY bucks we essential walked around and looked at fish bowls. Oh, lets not forget FANTASEA!!!! That was fun. Wait, NO, it was poorly acted and boring. We left after about ten minutes. Save your money. Pros: ... Cons: Boring, EXPENSIVE, dull, boring.... parking meter was broken more

My Childhood Favorite 11/3/2009

The Shedd has been a favorite of mine since my parents took me to visit the aquarium at an early age. I love the way they have the aquarium mapped out , and how the group different species together. And at every visit I always learn something new or find a new favorite. Pros: amazing selection of aquatic species Cons: cost more

Fun for Every Age 11/2/2009

It doesn't matter how old you are or how many times you've been, the Shedd Aquarium always provides a fun time. This museum always has a great feature exhibit that's worth the trip, along with the must-see dolphin show. Bring your camera because the city views from the Shedd are breathtaking! more

Amaaazing place! 8/21/2009

Amazing place. Friendly staff, great attractions. Beluga whale, penguins, sharks, seahorse, coral in downtown chicago. 4-D Planet Earth was an amazing experience. Missed dolphin show, but heard its awesome. A little steep in $$, however, well worth it! Would recommend to a friend. more

Great place to visit 5/11/2009

This is a chicago staple. It is a great aquarium with an awesome view of Lake Michigan. The Oceanarium is very interesteing, along with the mammal show. Pros: Lots to see and learn more

Great tourist attraction 5/11/2009

I could spend all day in this place. There is always something to see and enjoy. This is the perfect place to take friends or family who visit the city. Pros: whats not to like about big fish? more

What is the chef thinking? 8/31/2008

Aside from the beautiful view and atmosphere, Soundings should work on making their food more flavorful. I ordered a grilled tandoori tofu wrap and was extremely disappointed. I come from an East Indian background and ""tandoori"" means spices and mouthwatering flavor to grilled meats and tofu in Indian cuisine. I was excited to see the that there was something tandoori in the dish. However, to my surprise, it was horribly bland and I couldn't take more than one bite. I could only taste the yogurt. I looked around to see other people who ordered the same thing and saw their faces cringe when they had the bite as well. Pros: Scenic view, Indoor atmosphere Cons: Food, Service more

Good Family Fun 5/27/2008

Every summer we go to the Shedd Aquarium and always have a great day. They have a huge assortment of fish and other marine life to learn about. Also, the Aquarium provides an abundence of information about all the marine life that you will see. I would recommend going to the Shedd with your family, it's money well spent. more

Great view, good service 5/27/2008

My wife and I visited Soundings as a part of our whirlwind tour of the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum and Adler Planetarium. Even though we were very busy that day, Soundings provided a great respite from the screaming children and large crowds that we encountered that day. My biggest complaint was that there was only one seafood entree on the main menu, but it was a nice tilapia with an adventurous sauce. My wife and I enjoyed the view and the quiet ambiance. Little touches like the goldfish crackers were appreciated and the service was polite and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is tired of the typical museum food. Pros: Great View, Good food, Good Service Cons: Lack of seafood entrees more

Awesome for kids! 6/24/2006

I have been to a few aquariums for school field trips and this one just beats them all! Because I am a teacher I received an all access pass for free which was a wonderful bonus, but even if I had to pay the entrance fees it is well worth the money because there was so much to see there. I also liked how the staff got the kids to play in some interactive games about the animals. I would love to go again some day! Pros: Exhibits, Friendliness of staff Cons: No guided tours more

boycott soundings 10/25/2005

This restaurant's chef does not deserve our respect. Read Tribune Metro article of October 26, 2005. Refund the money now! more

Very nice 7/22/2003

Lots of variety and information. Dolphins and whale show was very good. Strictly an aquarium, no other animals at this location. more

Not Wheelchair Friendly 7/5/2003

They claim to be wheelchair accessable but they were far from wheelchair friendly. It was a confusing maze with a lack of signs. A complete lack of assistance from the staff, they seemed to have no idea where we were supose to go to get to places and wouldnt get off thier chairs to help us figure it out. After 40 minutes we had enough and got sent down the wrong hall for the last time, so we left. It was a huge waste of money and a real let down. I know they can do better!!!! Cons: Not Wheelchair friend, confusing layout, poorly trained staff more

great in a small package 9/28/2002

The Shedd is one of my favorite attractions in Chicago. The Rising Amazon exhibit is really well-made. The feeding time for the main aquarium is an experience - definitely great for kids. It's just too bad that you have to pay an additional fee to see the beluga whales... Pros: Kid-friendly more
