food poison pub 2/8/2011

I feel compelled to submit this review. ( sorry Frank )\r Just yesterday I visited the shamrock after not having set foot in there for at least 12 years. Thought I'd have lunch and check the place out. The staff was friendly and the beer cold. The patty melt was good. After three beers I went home and noticed this strange feeling all over. kind a tired and this feeling seemed to spread through my body and turned to a cold sweat. By early evening I ravished with serious vomiting and diarrhea. Classic food poisoning symptoms. Still feel like crap as I write this review. Patrons beware of their kitchen. I will never go back there again. horrible experince! more

Quinnesential Irish Pub 4/21/2008

I read the negative reviews here...All I can say is that I guess people who aren't familiar with a proper Irish pub might need to either culture themselves or simply find a new bar.\r \r As for The Shamrock...it's great place to catch soccer or rugby matches. And, unlike most Southern California sports bars, you actually get commetary with the games (not some best of music genre CD blaring over the action).\r \r If you're coming for the food, don't get your hopes up. It's standard Irish fare. The only thing worse than Irish food is English food (might also throw Scandanavian grub in that group). However, if you're coming for a good place to relax, catch a game, a nice pint or some live Irish music, you can't go wrong.\r \r This is one of my favorites in The OC. Pros: Soccer, Rugby, Beer Cons: They serve authentic Irish food more

Dicey Bar...Unfriendly Staff 3/30/2008

I went in to catch a friends band and ordered a Glenlivet and Newcastle. The bartender proceeds to pour me a Jameson. I told him I asked for a Glenlivet and he swears he poured me one. I said, ""No, you poured me a Jameson."" We argued back and forth over this until I said, ""Forget it.""\r \r Basically, he was just being an azzclown The bouncers are all azzclowns too. You can't walk in through the front. You can't dance. I saw one girl harassed by a bouncer for dancing. The same bouncer was clearing tables and tried to take my drink I was not finished with. Only an act of the owner got me my drink back. Pretty dodgy place. You're on edge the whole time because of the staff. That's the antithesis of a good time. more

How dare you dance! 1/7/2008

This bar is absolutely horrible...stay far away. A large group of us recently went here to celebrate a birthday. It started out fine with good friends accompanied by good beverages. We should have taken the cue to leave when someone dropped a stink bomb on the joint but being the good natured people we are we held our noses and stuck around. From there it all went down hill. A band was playing but when the birthday girl started to dance to the music (and by dance I mean shuffle her feet back and forth a bit w/ maybe a little bit of hip shaking) she was rudely told to stop by one of the bouncers without an explanation. She stopped for a bit but when the music started to move her again the bouncer rudely shouted obscenities at her, ripped a full beer out of her hand and kicked her out of the bar - still with no explanation about why she couldn't dance. I tried to talk some reason in to the two bouncers handling the situation asking them to cut a birthday girl some slack. I even asked to speak to a manager but the bouncers just pretended to be the managers and wouldn't even give up the real manager?s name. Instead of reasoning they just kicked me out for it too. Of course this caused our whole party to leave the bar which was about a third of their business at the time so I guess in the end the laugh is on them.\r \r To sum it up don't go to this bar unless you don't like dancing, enjoy stinky situations, and appreciate rude abusive employees. Pros: Good beer Cons: rude staff, no dancing more
