Shadyside Market has a good variety of gourmet products. Prices tend to be a little on the steep side. For Shadyside, this is about as sophisticated as the clientele is. The produce is nicer looking but more expensive than Whole Food's, which is near by. They also carry everyday products that you would only find at the Giant Eagle. Ready made hors d'oeuvres seem of good quality and would do in a pinch. For better selection in Pittsburgh, the Strip district is the only alternative. For Pittsburgh, the Shadyside Market is gourmet, but by New York standards it wouldn't pass muster.
