Lots of local info in a great building. The temporary exhibits that I saw were also interesting. Pros: historic building, good parking, good location

Heinz History Center 2/28/2006

The Heinz History Center is a fantastic family-friendly museum and interpretative center that explores both the history of Pittsburgh and the history of southwestern Pennsylvania. The HHC, partnered with the Smithsonian Institution, uses everything from oral histories and first-hand accounts to displays and dioramas. There is a children's center with plenty of hands-on activities and a brand new sports complex that uses sports to help explain the history of the Steel City. Admission is a bit pricey, but it's worth it if you've got an entire day to spend here. more

Live History 8/19/2005

The Heinz History Center is a great place for the whole family to go. It is the largest history museum in Pennsylvania. There are many interactive displays for adults and children alike. The museum gives you a real feel for what things were like for some of the first settlers as well as a glimpse of things such as an old street car. This is a great way for you to experience a piece of history. It is a gateway to the past. more
