Wonderful Family Entertainent 8/8/2006

We have a membership to the zoo and try to go at least once a week. There are so many things to see and do. The newest exhibit is the The Gorilla Forrest, which is alot of fun to see when they are active. They are adding a penguin exhibit that will open Spring 2007. They also have classes for the kids to take that are very affordable and the kids learn alot from them. We are always amazed when we go out of town and go to the other zoo's and we realize what a wonderful zoo we have. more

Sedgwick County Zoo 12/28/2005

I love this zoo because its open 364 days a year with affordable admission prices. I went to this zoo in the summer on my road trip and had a very nice time. The Sedgwick Zoo has a diverse selection of animals and is divided into regional sections. This zoo has a variety of shows to show off the talents of the animals. What I loved the most was The Downing Gorilla Forest and the Koch Orangutan Chimpanzee Habitat. The Sedgwick Zoo has become one of the most respected institutions and cultural assets of their community. I spent at least 4 hours in this zoo just enjoying the animals and sitting down for a bit to eat. The zoo has a nice petting area for the kiddies to interact and enjoy being around. more

Surprisingly nice zoo 10/31/2005

Visitors to Wichita are always surprised at how great the Sedgwick County Zoo is. It is a wonderful place for young families, and they also regularly have special events there. It is a nice place for kids' birthday parties or even company picnics (there is a nice covered patio with many tables). I highly recommend it, especially to anyone with young kids or visitors from outside of Wichita. more

Perfect family "entertainment" 8/17/2005

The Sedgwick County Zoo is the pride of Wichita, it is one of the most visited places in our town, and it is understandable why. With expansions always occurring, our zoo keeps getting grander, and grander. Allow a whole day to explore this incredible zoo. VERY Highly recommended for the people of all ages! more

A great place for the family... 8/5/2005

The Sedgwick County Zoo is arguably the best zoo in the entire Midwest. Thanks to the Charles Koch Foundation, the zoo has undergone countless renovations, and has become a top-notch, state-of the art zoo that is enjoyable for both parents and children alike. The zoo offers countless amenities to families, such as rentable strollers and even zoo keys. Kids can find out information about their favorite animals using the Zoo Key... It has truly come a long way in the past decade and it is great to see it continuing to grow. I would recommend the Zoo for anyone looking for a great afternoon activity with the family. more

Family Memberships 7/12/2005

We recently visited the zoo to see the newer exhibits. For our large family, it can be quite costly. We would visit much more often if it were not for that. While we were there, we picked up information on becoming a zoo member, and expect that we will do that soon. So my review would not only be in regard to a nice zoo, well cared for, but also in an effort to encourage you to check out the membership rates. For a large family, it's nice because some memberships specify a family of "two adults two kids" etc. This one includes all children under 21. This is exceptionally nice as my oldest son is 19, he often takes the younger children for activities such as this. Previously we had been gifted a membership for a year and we used it a LOT. What a wonderful gift idea!!! There is a HUGE list of reciprocal zoos who honor the Sedgwick County Pass for admission to theres. The household membership is $69 a year. For an extra $20 you can get a family "plus one" that allows for a guest at each visit. There are also many different rates for grandparents, single parent homes etc. A bargain by any measure! It cost us over 35 for one days visit, so it would pay for itself if you used it twice. ENJOY more
