Three years ago I went to Seattle Transmission with my truck. The transmission would not shift. I was told it was probably a shift fork in the transmission, but possibly it could be a pin in the shifter. The price difference was $600.00 to take transmission out of truck and replace the shifter fork, or $30.00 to replace a pin in shifter. I received a call that it was ready. It was the pin. Instead of taking advantage of me, like some places would do, they were very honest. Today I took my Mazda 6 in thinking I had a bad CV joint in my front axle at a cost of around $200.00 to be fixed. I left the car and they checked it out and called me back about hour and a half later and said it was ready, once again at $30.00. A bolt had come lose on the alternator and dropped down into the steering brake assembly and was making a great amount of noise. As I said before, these guys are very fair and honest and I would recommend them to anybody. more

Rip-off!!! 12/15/2009

The clutch pedal broke on my truck and the shop I usually go to said it was too big a job for them and had it towed to Seattle Transmission. First off Seattle Transmisson talked me into a whole new clutch – which I didn’t need. After a few days I called them and they said the truck would be ready in the afternoon. I picked it up and started to drive it home. BTW - They charged me a twice what I thought I was going to pay. The cab was filthy from the workmen and they’d left tools inside the truck. After a block or so, of driving, the transmission started to rattle - LOUD. Then I notice the lights on the shifter were not working. It then dawned on me to try the four wheel drive. It would not shift into four wheel drive and the transmission started grinding – with effort I got into four wheel drive and then it would not go back. I called them and got the story that transmissions rattle and that shifting to four wheel drive will make it grind. WELL IT DIDN’T BEFORE I TOOK IT THERE! I took the truck back on Monday. They called me three days later and said it was fixed. IT WASN'T!! These guys do not care if they do a bad job and if you have to bring it back 50 times. Although the rattle was gone the lights still didn’t work and I’m afraid to try four wheel drive – and to make matters worse they had run the battery down to the point it would not start at the shop. They jumped the truck so I could drive it but I had to buy a new battery when I got home. I’ve had the truck back for a week now and I went go to the dump and noticed all my tie down straps were gone – and under the leaves in the back were wood scraps that were not from me. Evidently they used my truck for hauling while it was there and kept the straps. These guys will rip you off and smile about it!! They don’t care if they do a bad job and will give you the around. STAY AWAY!!! Pros: Old Guys Cons: Will rip you off and smile about it more

good shop 7/18/2008

These folks have overhauled a couple of Chysler Torquflight transmissions for me. They have done a good job and treated me well. Price was as promised and delivered when promised. I would recommend them. more

Avoid this shop like the plague! 3/30/2008

We had our 98 Nissan Maxima towed to them in March of 2007 because of clutch problems. They replaced the entire clutch for $750. Two months later we had to tow the vehicle back to them again because of clutch problems. They did not do anything to the vehicle and instead told us to pump the clutch pedal every time we get into the car before putting it in gear. Several months later, and only days after the warranty expired, we were stranded yet again. This time we were in Portland Oregon so I had it towed to the local Nissan dealership. The dealership told us that the clutch had never been properly adjusted and the lack of adjustment caused pre-mature clutch failure. They put this information in writing and showed us the worn-down clutch plates. We ended up spending another $800 dollars to get the clutch replaced again.\r \r I called Seattle/Highline Transmission several times and spoke with the same guy as before. He said that he was not the mechanic that did the work on the car, yet he would not let me talk to anyone else. He claimed that he was in the hospital back when the work was done, as if that makes any difference to us. He tried everything he could to push the blame back on us. He said we drove too many miles, we waited too long to bring the issue up with them, etc? He would not even acknowledge that we ever towed the vehicle back to them the second time, even though I have a copy of the towing claim. He said ?you people call all the time complaining about your car problems.? He continued by ridiculing us for not calling them when our car was stranded for the third time for the same reason. He actually had the nerve to say that we should have had the vehicle towed from Portland to Seattle so they could work on it. He said I should not have had the Nissan dealership work on the vehicle even though Nissan was able to fix the vehicle on a Saturday, when his shop was closed for business. We argued for a while and then he hung up the phone on me. Pros: They will get your car in Cons: They won't fix it more
