my favorite summertime activity 5/22/2006

several years ago if you told me i'd be a wnba/seattle storm fan, i would have laughed in your face. now i pass time during the fall, winter and spring by counting the days until the season begins, which it did yesterday! if you haven't been to a game but you like basketball or sports or want to do something fun and inexpensive or want to show kids what *real* teamwork looks like, then i can't recommend the Storm games enough. to start with, you can get lower bowl seats for $10. the games are very family-oriented and kid-friendly. the players often sign autographs after warm-ups. etc. but the best part is that you will watch 40 minutes of pure athleticism by women who play because they love the game. they don't get paid millions of dollars. they don't have private jets to take them on their road trips. they don't hog the ball and choke their coaches. they play a wonderfully pure form of basketball and will give up a basket for an assist more times than you can count. i'm a former hard-core nba fan who will NOT go to an nba game anymore but have missed only 2 wnba games in the past 5 years - once for my honeymoon and once for the birth of my little dude. come check out the 2004 championship team. schedule, team, etc. info is at and if you want to speak w/a ticket rep, send me mail and i'll hook you up with mine. more

Best basketball in town 8/17/2005

I've spent a lot of time in Atlantic Coast Conference schools (Wake Forest and Duke), so I know good basketball. The Storm are the real deal. For an absurdly cheap $10, take a seat in the upper deck of Key Arena and watch the women of the WNBA play their hearts out. Sue Bird is a true leader and Lauren Jackson is a Valkyrie. The quality of play varies some from night to night, but they always play with the kind of heart you rarely see in the NBA. The crowd is tremendously fun -- lots of women and lots and lots of kids. They're all thrilled to be there, and you should be too. It's especially fun to catch a playoff at the end of the season, in early fall. more

A great experience 8/14/2005

The Storm are a great example of what fundamental basketball is. You get to watch world class players at a reasonable price. Everybody who is at the game is truly a fan which makes the game experience wonderful. And Key Arena is in such a great neighborhood, there are plenty of excellent restaurants around to grab a bite and rehash the game at afterwards. Plus they are the world champions, what more could you ask for. more

Storm games are a blast! 7/30/2005

Storm games are fun for all ages and types of people. The reigning WNBA champs (the first seattle sports team to win a national title in almost 20 years) play at Key Arena in Seattle Center. Many ticket packages and specially priced tickets are available. It's great family entertainment - lots of stuff for the kids to look at. It's also great for non-families - a little something for everyone, and you will see the best women basketball players in the world at every game. If you haven't checked out a game, you're missing out - we're known as the loudest fans in the WNBA (and according to the players the best fans in the WNBA), so come clap, scream and cheer. more
