A Little Bit of Juilliard in Seattle 3/18/2006

Seattle Children's Theatre Drama School is not just for the child actor wanta-bes. It is a wonderful experience for children who want to get their creative juices flowing. I really like the variety of classes that they offer to youngsters. From Story Drama to Physical Comedy, Shakespeare to Musical Theatre. The classes seem pricey but are well worth it by letting kids explore their imagination and giving them confidence in expressing themselves. more

Off-Broadway for Kids 3/18/2006

What a fun way to get your children interested in the arts. The Seattle Children's Theater has put on some nice shows for kids and some maybe too deep but all in all they get the creative juices running in children. We were impressed with the after the show met and greets. The actors make the kids feel very important by answering questions from the audience of mostly children. I also really like the classes that they offer to youngsters. The classes seem pricey but are well worth it by letting kids explore their imagination and giving them confident in expressing themselves. more

Perfect 10/3/2005

A theater for plays targeted for kids which often appeal to adults as well! After one play you'll be hooked! What I really like about this place is that they put on some really classic and professional productions with some really amazing effects and costumes. Some of the plays we have seen there are: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Alexander and the No good Very Bad Day, Bunnicula. One of our favorite things is that the kids get to ask the actors questions in a town meeting style forum after the show is over. Great fun! more

Powerful Entertainment for a Puny Price 8/21/2005

If you enjoy quality live theatre that you can take the whole family to, but don't care for big ticket prices then Seattle Children's Theatre is for you. Located north of the Science Center on the Seattle Center campus, it hosts several productions each summer performed by Seattle Children's Theatre students who rival any professional company. Call 206 441-3322 for the season's productions and ticket information. If you have a budding actor or actress at home you may want to call 206 443-0807 to find out about classes. more

Really high-quality shows for kids (grownups will like them, too) 8/17/2005

Having grown up near Seattle, I was amazed at the vastly improved quality of the Seattle Children's Theatre from the humbler stuff I remember seeing when I was a little kid. We took in "Bunnicula" last year and I couldn't believe the quality of the sets and the acting. Although tickets aren't cheap, the overall experience is so good for kids and families that we're planning to see shows every year. They also offer acting classes for kids. Though classes for younger kids are steep for what they get out of it, it's hard to imagine a better introduction to theater. Seattle is really lucky to have this as a resource. more

Theatre for kids... 7/26/2005

Located in the heart of Seattle by the space needle is a children's theatre full of outstanding plays and performances. They perform all sorts of plays such as: The Frog and the Toad, Sleeping Beauty, James and the Giant Peach, Peter and the Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood, The Odyssey, Peter Pan, and much more. Their actors are professionally trained in drama and will have you entertained all the way through. You can purchase single tickets or seasonal passes. So come and bring your child to a play they will never forget. more

Wonderful Performances 7/19/2005

SCT has been a Seattle mainstay for at least 30 years - since I was a litlte girl anyway! They have a wonderful newer dual theater space at the Seattle Center. The smaller space usually has plays for the younger range of kids. They also have theater classes in the summer. Schools come during the week for field trips and those performances are not open to the public. Public performances are on weekends. When you buy tickets, be sure to ask what the reccomended age range is for that play - they really know what is most appropriate for kids! more
