A fun place to sit outside and listen to music 8/30/2006

We go here quite a bit since we moved back to St. Louis. We used to frequent the Tap Room, but this has lighter fare, and it is closer for us. The grilled cheese is really darn good, with a side of bbq'd asparagus just hits the spot. The pulled pork sandwich is more than a handful. My bottomless pit brother loves this one. Their salads are okay, there is quite a bit of chicken in their chicken salads. Outside on the patio (aka, in the parking lot) they have tables under a canopy and often have live music. On Wednesday nights they actually have a farmers market in the parking lot. Since they are the bottleworks, they do offer all of the Schlafly's beer, and save room for the Sticky Toffee Pudding! Yum! more

Not the Tap Room clone you were expecting! 6/14/2006

The Bottleworks is a whole entity to itself. While they do brew and bottle (duh) Schlafly beer at this location, the menu is really really different. No french fries, but darn good salads. A nice outdoor patio, and each time we go there is a small band (jazz band, folk singer kinda stuff) playing. Its all under a huge tent. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich, and all I have to say is its HUGE. They have bison (in the form of burgers, pizza and nacho toppings) and definetely lighter fare than the Tap Room. But don't worry, they still have Sticky Toffee Pudding. For chocolate lovers, the chocolate cake is really darn good, as is the "brick" of berry cobbler which may be seasonal. I hear on Wednesdays there is a farmers market in their parking lot, bonus! And you can take a tour too! more

Wonderful food 4/3/2006

They have the most wonderful food with extremely fresh, local ingredients. And trust me, you can taste the difference when its that fresh. Plus, as always, Schlafly has a great selection of beers including some really good seasonal selections. Be warned if you're a smoker, though, because they don't allow smoking inside. more

A brew pub with the right stuff. 3/26/2006

Schlafly's Tap Room is a classic brew pub. People go there to drink and eat. Its a huge hang out joint. We love taking people there because we can get local brew and good greasy food. I tend to get the portabello sandwich which is awesome. They have a spiced ketchup for your fries which rocks. Of course the sandwiches don't come with fries (they come with slaw I'm not a fan of) so you have to order a side of them, which is great for sharing. My husband has tried most things, and loves the turkey burger and fish and fries. Even if you are just stopping in for drinks, you HAVE to have the sticky toffee pudding. Its excellent and such a hard dessert to find around here! I crave it, and its just like my grandmother used to make. It gets 5 stars just for the one dessert in my books. more

Fun place to hang out, but... 3/17/2006

After looking at the menu for the taproom online we thought it sounded interesting, and had been here a couple times for drinks before. They have bands often, which is fun although it can get a bit crowded. From now on, I think we'll stick to the beer. The food was just weird. It was like they were trying to get a California flare, and it went terribly wrong. Wouldn't eat here again, but would go back for the spirits and entertainment. more

Great Brewpub 8/29/2005

Being a big beer fan this place is just heaven. I have watched Schlafly's beer quality get better and better. The Oatmeal Stout and Pilsner are very good but some of their seasonals are fantastic. (example Gran Cru and Kaldis Coffee Stout). Dump the bland AB products challenge your palate and step into the world of Craft Beer. I have eaten here on many an occasion and found the food to be very good. They use local and organic farms to supply their produce and meat. Whatever you choose to eat leave room for dessert. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is perhaps the best in town. These people deserve a 5 star rating on their community and social involvement alone. Sign up for the newsletter or go to the website and see what I mean. If only more businesses operated with such quality and ethics. more

Ok food fun atmosphere 7/12/2005

This brewery's beer did not excite us. We tried the sampler of 6 beers and really did not find a beer that we would order again. I would recommend the yeast bread and the bbq sandwich. The salad was great and would order it again. The farmers platter was fun to share and I really liked the roasted garlic! more
