I was invited to this bar by the manager to participate in a Cinco de Mayo celebration as a vendor selling products alongside another vendor. 6 months pregnant, I was leery to do the ""bar scene"" in the first place. However, since smoking has been banned in the bars and the event was to start at 5pm I agreed.
After my vendor sales were done I packed my things up and proceeded to sit at the bar for a few moments with family members that were there supporting my sales efforts. I decided to have a pop and play a dollar in the jukebox. I should add this was before 9pm. I went over to the jukebox, about to feed a dollar in, when I was suddenly pushed in to the jukebox! I looked back and saw a scuffle but was in disbelief for a moment believing it was a joke or they were playing around. I barely could get out of the way, nearly taken down to the ground by a group of 4-6 people now trying to break up an actual fight. One of the female bartenders was taken to the ground in the midst of this as well.
I managed to get around the backside of the pool table for protection unharmed, but very shaken up. After the two individuals were separated from the scuffle. The BAR OWNER, Randy was apparently the instigator and involved in physically assaulting an employee’s husband! After the dust settled, I went back to my seat to my family members. One who knew the owner and was appalled by his behavior. What if I was hurt? What if ANY innocent bystander was hurt? She was upset enough by this that she went to the owner and suggested that he apologize to me.
Randy came over to ""apologize"" only to be completely insulting in his drunken stupor. He stated he was in the right because he was ""protecting his property"" and he was free from any legal ramifications if I or anyone else had been hurt in this ridiculous display of unprofessional behavior I witnessed and was nearly hurt in. I was already very upset and shaken over the whole thing and now I was mad at his response. I told him he was wrong, that HE was liable for causing injury to me or anyone else if he was involved in the physical altercation. He did not like my retort and KICKED ME OUT! Some of the patrons looked puzzled as my family and I left. Randy simply told them ""I'm right and she is wrong, so she has to leave.""
There are so many levels of this that are deeply wrong. I have been told this is a co-owner. I hope the other owner is not as ignorant and without care for his own patrons as Randy. One of the biggest mistakes bar owners make is sitting at the bar drinking all night, and this will be the downfall of this bar if he does not change his ways.
The bartenders were friendly here...but enter at your own risk...apparently, the owner does not care about his customers OR his employees. Quite despicable.
