Always get the shrimp pad thai and it never fails to be awesome. Fast service for carry out, and nice decor for dining in. A must visit if you love Thai food.

Best Thai 5 years in a row. That's true. 9/11/2011

I just move here from LA. I have tried many Thai restaurants in LA. I come here to Triangle and never believe that I can find a authentic Thai like Sawasdee. I love to be here for lunch on Capital and dinner on Glenwood. Lucky for me, they have 2 locations more

Use to be good now is HORRIBLE 6/27/2011

I have been to this place over 60 times ever since it has been open. It was good. I don't know what happened, but I think the management is worse. I called in and ordered carry out. It was a special. The woman was rude and rushing me off the phone. When I got up there I could feel her negative attitude. This was the manager too! When I got back to work the order was missing the spring rolls and they informed me they dont include thos anymore on carry out. My dish had three little pieces of chicken in it. The liquid part was greasy. basically it tasted really bad! I doubt this place will be open another year if they keep serving this way. When I called up there they didn't even care. They just said ""I will tell to mamanger"" This place took a dive for the WORST! Never again. $9 for carryout with nothing really in it! more

Best Thai Food in the Area 1/7/2011

If you're looking for good Thai food, you can't go wrong here. Service is attentive and friendly and the dishes are superb. Try this place for a great food experience. more

Bad Experience 5/20/2010

I was visiting Raleigh and this place came highly recommended by a local. I ordered thai ice tea, fried spring rolls, and three-flavor grouper. The thai ice tea and spring rolls were OK - nothing special about them. Now the three flavor grouper - the fried fish was swimming in sweet chili sauce. It wasn't good. After several bites, I found a bug in my food. After showing my plate to them, I was told that it was possibly from the rice. But come on, really? Why would they suggest it, if they didn't know about it? And they still serve food in this place? They tried to offer me a different dish. But after seeing what they may possibly have living in their kitchen, I couldn't bear stomaching it. I then asked for my bill. Can you believe that the owner/manager was going to charge me for the entire bill? How would you feel if they asked you to pay for the bug-infested dish? The owner then realized that it wasn't right for her to do that so I only got charged for my drink and spring rolls. All I can say is that this place is not clean and the food is less than average. Did I mention that the price seemed a bit high? Don't eat there if you can avoid it. If you decide to disregard my opinion, pay attention to any bugs before taking another bite. It may be there in your food. Cons: Insect found in food more

The BEST 3/17/2010

The Best Thai Restaurant in Raleigh.... Keep up the great work.... Pros: GREAT FOOD Cons: Can't think of any! more

Very disappointing 10/19/2009

After much anticipation - yuck. The hot appetizers were cold. This should have been a sign of things to come since we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. Will definately not recommend nor go back nor visit the new location. There are way to many really good Thai restaurants to waste time with this one. more

Best place I've tried in the Triangle 1/28/2009

I grew up eating authentic Thai food, as we have a family friend from Thailand. So needless to say, I'm pretty discriminating when it comes to Thai food. Sawasdee is the best place in the Triangle for Thai (that I've tried). I'd surprisingly never had Drunken Noodles before, but I can tell you when I get them at other places, they definitely don't compare. I don't find the price for Thai to be expensive here, in fact its one of the cheapest Thai restaurants I've been to in Raleigh. The decor is bright and inviting, although the place is small. I find it to be a romantic place, but I can see where others wouldn't. Their spice levels seem to be higher here than at other Thai places, so make sure you talk to your server about the heat levels if you don't like it spicy (they'll change it for you). Pros: Interesting decor, excellent food, noninvasive service Cons: Its hard to spot from the road on your first time more

Savory and delicious! 11/24/2008

The food is rich in flavor, and they aren't kidding with the make you cry spice level. The spot is cozy and relaxed, and the staff is very friendly. You get a lot of food and flavor for little cost. Once you eat here you'll look no further for great thai. more

Yummy 7/15/2008

I love this place! Not all the food is excellent, but most everything we have had is. My husband loves the Drunken Noodles. I'm partial to their spring rolls and the catfish is divine! Some things we have tried are just so-so, but mostly everything has been delicious and nothing has been bad. The decor is kinda weird, but less offensive than most strip mall places. Look for the saign that says ""Thai Restaurant"" not ""Sawasdee"" or you will never find it. Pros: really good Thai Cons: location & atmosphere more

Always great! 6/22/2008

We love this place for Thai and eat here quite a bit. Last week we brought our dinner club here and everyone loved it. The food was delicious!! The wait staff is friendly and efficient. And the Tom Kha soup is out of this world. Thanks for accommodating such a large group (12). Pros: Food, Service more

Sawasdee fumbles the ball! 5/13/2008

We have always liked this place, but our last visit was disappointing.\r \r Colorfully decorated and clean, the wait staff is always smiling and efficient. Fast, too--- our dishes were out of the kitchen in the blink of an eye. Which made my son wonder aloud if they had been pre-prepared.\r \r Although we all ordered different entrees, all three looked identical. All were covered in a dark brown, syrupy, sweet sauce. \r \r My wife is convinced they have a new chef.\r \r We will give them another chance as our previous visits were outstanding, but the homogeneous nature of these recent servings is worrisome.\r \r $70 for three, no alcohol, tip included. Pros: service more

Fully customizable to fit your picky friends' style 5/9/2008

I love Thai food at Sawasdee and never get anything bad. The food is excellent and my friend can customize the taste like spicy, extra spicy, and less sweet as well as less salty. I know he is picky but the restaurant can do it for him. Just ask the servers. They are so attentive. Anyway, My favorite dish is Drunken Noodle Chicken. Pros: Cozy Cons: Hard to find but worth a try more

Definently NOT the best Thai in the Triangle 5/3/2008

First of all, I love Thai food and eat it very often, so as an avid eater of the Thai cuisine I came to Sawasdee with high expectations since I read it was ""number 1"" in the area. I ordered a spicy tofu with vegetables and my boyfriend ordered the drunken noodles. Our food literally come out in about 3 minutes, meaning it must have been prepared prior to our arrival, and yes it tasted like leftovers. Our food was extremely oversweetened, not very spicy, and all of the vegetables appeared to be frozen(not fresh). It was a very disappointing meal to say the least. \r \r I would highly recommend going to Thai Villa or Sushi Thai in Cary, where you can experience what actual good Thai food tastes like. more

My fav Thai restaurant in the triangle 2/15/2008

I love all the dishes I have tried so far. Service is good however ambiance is not all that great. The only drawback is that this place is very far if you do not live in Raleigh. I hope they open new branches around the triangle more

Great curries and tom kha, try the evil jungle noodles 12/8/2007

We've been several times and have a great experience each time. Each dish we've tried has been great, I am partial to the ""Evil Jungle Noodles."" The tom kha soup is also quite good. Staff is very attentive and despite the size of the restaurant, we've never had to wait for a seat. Pros: great food, great service Cons: Biggest table might seat 8 (maybe more with tables pushed together) more

Great food, great service, what else could you want? 11/19/2007

Having a passion for Thai food, this place was a real find. The food was EXCELLENT, the service was even better. Pros: Great food, ourstanding service Cons: Limited seating, but intimate so it is not really a ""con"" unless you get there late more
