My favorite oatmeal!! 2/6/2011

Whenever I go to Sarabeths' I get their oatmeal with nuts and fruits. It comes with a cream and honey on a side (which btw, I LOVE.) It never fails to content my palate and stomach! more

Crappy Service 7/9/2010

We went to Sarabeth's on a weekday around 2 pm. They were NOT busy at all, but we had to wait forever to be served. We sat outside and the staff completely ignored us after they brought our food. I actually had to go inside and ask for our check from the rude ""hostess"". Food was okay, but not special and very high priced. There are plenty of good restaurants that will get my future business. Cons: Terrible Service, High Prices more

Feels Like Going Home 5/26/2010

I love going to Sarabeth's West with my family and friends. From the minuet I walk through the door I feel right at home! The food is fantastic and the service is always great. More people should be raving about this restaurant! *eggs bennedict, potato waffle, SCONES, four flowers juice. It's hard for me to order anything else because I know these items to be soooo good! Just go, you'll love it! Pros: outdoor cafe, friendly staff, great location. more

Completely Terrible 5/8/2010

Went there for early dinner with party of six. Service was terrible from start. Main course orders had menu listed ingredients left off. One order was forgotten forcing one of us to eat after everyone else was finished. Waiter totally unapologetic as well a clueless - and we got hit 20% tip for group. Complaining to 20-yo brain-dead manager or hostess - who was oldest employee there - completely useless. Will never return. more

Always a yummy meal! 10/2/2008

Sarabeth's West is hands down one of my favorie restaurants in NYC. Every time I've gone, I've tried something different on the menu and it never disappoints. The service is excellent too. Pros: Excellent all of the time more

Didn't even get to eat!!!! 5/22/2008

Went for brunch on Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm, and was told there was a 20minute wait and it may be quicker because not everyone who had put their name down stayed around to wait. Ok, I understand if it's a little longer wait than the hostess claims but as forty five minutes approached and the other ""tables for two"" waiting outside had been seated I assumed I would be the next name called. To my surprise, there were people walking right in and being seated immediately as I continued to wait outside in the rain. When I approached the hostess (who wasn't the girl I had given my name too) and she claimed that those people being seated weren't present when their name on the waitlist was called, but since they came back they get priority. She insisted that is the restaurant's policy. Needless to say, if I knew this so called ""policy"" I would have NEVER waited, and left upon arrival rather than wasting part of my afternoon. I am thinking of going back this Sunday and telling them I put my name down last Sunday for brunch and according to their policy that should give me priority seating. I have never encountered such unfair treatment nor has ANY dining establishment followed such a ridiculous ""policy"". Clearly they need to train the hostesses on the etiquette of a proper waitlist. more

Superfluous Charge 2/19/2008

I go to the UWS location all the time for Brunch. I don't mind the high prices, long waits, and often overworked wait-staff. However, during my last trip this weekend, I went with someone who asked for ""just some hot water"" when offered coffee. I was appalled to see the $1.50 charge for it on the bill. Sarabeth's management, if you're reading this, change this policy!! That is a ridiculous insult to customers paying close to $100 for brunch for four. Come on, Sarabeth's, at $15 for Eggs Benedict, you don't need to be charging for water. more

bad service, worse food 12/11/2007

This was my first visit and my last. Mid-day on a weekday, I asked for a table for 2. There were tables available. I was told that my companion had to be there before they would seat me. I told the hostess that my friend was 3 blocks away; she had just phoned me. She still wouldn't seat me. I said, ""This makes no sense. If I said 'table for one,' you'd seat me right now AT THE SAME TABLE."" No dice. And the restaurant is tiny. It really was awkward to stand. After all this... My friend and I both ordered the same chicken salad which was disgusting (and I am NOT a picky eater!) and not as described on the menu. Any chicken salad from any corner deli would have been comparable. A mayonnaisey mess and low quality meat. The whole experience was a big YUCK. Pros: I've heard the breakfast foods are best bet Cons: bad service, bad salad more

My Favorite Default Brunch Spot... have yet to be disappointed 2/11/2007

Been here plenty of times (this location and the one on Central Park South)... the food is filling and delicious, like a good home cooked meal. The almond crusted french toast is my favorite. I've also had a variety of omlettes. Oh, I have to mention the lemon pancakes (forget the official name) but they are damn tasty too! I come here when I want a guaranteed enjoyable brunch... and a nice teapot of some herbal to go w/my meal =) Pros: Brunch, brunch, and brunch Cons: Crowded, long wait - but don't really mind more

Sarabeth's Best (Brunch) 9/30/2006

If you can somehow get past the lines, this place is totally worth it. The food is amazing and the service is impeccable. It is just too bad everyone else knows about it. Pros: Food, Service, Brunch Cons: Long Wait On Weekends more

Lovely! 9/13/2006

I have been to this Sarabeth's West for brunch twice, as well as a couple visits to the other locations. I am always glad I went and often find myself recommending it to others when the topic of brunch arises. The omelettes were delicious, the pancakes were great too... but my favorite thing at Sarabeth's has to be the pumpkin muffins! So yummy! :) Pros: food, ambience, location Cons: sometimes have to wait more

Lunch 7/19/2006

Ordered a seafood salad, tomato soup, and ice tea, it was great. Service was cordial. I nice quiet atmosphere to refresh and reflect. Pros: lunch, crisp fresh salad, calming atmosphere Cons: can't stay their long enough more

Very Disappointed 5/14/2006

After YEARS of hearing about the amazing brunch at Sarabeth's, when I finally went for the first time on Mother's Day I was EXTREMELY disappointed. After waiting for an hour outside, when we finally got in, the place was very loud, and the food was pretty bad. The $15 eggs benedict was awful, the omelet needed some serious seasoning, and the potato ""waffles"" were rubbery and mushy. The only redeeming parts of the meal were the coffee and the croissant. I MUST point out however, the waitress was FANTASTIC. She was warm and friendly despite the enormous amount of work she was doing. The hostess was also excellent, and working brunch is a tough job. Pros: service, coffee Cons: food, noisy more

not the way to spend Easter brunch 4/17/2006

In one word: overrated. I've wanted to go here forever and finally pick Sarabeths for Easter brunch. We were a bit turned off when arriving the hostess at the door was completely rude to any person trying to put in their names, she was so rude that one girl said ""Im scared of her."" After waiting over an hour, the food turned out to be less than desirable. I could have made a better farmers omelet and it only came with a small muffin. They charge you for home fries or other sides. The point is it wasn't worth it. Our brunch club agreed no one will go back. NOT recommended... cook at home or check out better spots. Pros: area, cute inside Cons: price, food, service more

Fantastic Meal 2/16/2006

From the moment you enter and lay your eyes on the feast of cookies and beautifully jarred pudding, you know you're in for a treat. Many people already rave about the brunch (have the lemon ricotta pancakes with a side of chicken sausage) But their dinner is superb! The butternut squash ravioli is a hit and you can never fail with any one of their seafood specials. It is truly a welcome dining experience when you consider the long waits, arrogant staff and mediocre food at trendier places in the city. Sarabeth's west is a GEM. Pros: Great dinner, Friendly staff, short waits Cons: crowds for brunch more

Sunday Brunch is a Must! 11/6/2005

There's a reason why the wait is so long for this UWS cafe. Well, there's are actually two reasons: 1. They don't take reservations. 2. Their breakfast/brunch menu is superb. I highly recommend the eggs benedict or the lemon and ricotta pancakes (they taste like a light version of homemade Italian cheesecake). Just be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes for a table if you arrive after 10 am on a Saturday or Sunday. Pros: food Cons: wait more

Best Brunch on UWS! 10/19/2005

The omelettes are so great here and so are the muffins. Cute atmosphere, service is great and you aren't sitting on top of each other like in a lot of other places. I love coming here - now only if they took reservations. Pros: food Cons: wait more
