Got Chased out by waiter!!!!! 11/21/2009

I will never go back to Sangria 46. Tapas was average - nothing special. But my friends and i were have a great time but during the meal we kept on seeing the waiters arms reach across to try and clear out places - extremely rude when you are trying to have a conversation and then see an arm pop up right in front of your face - several times this happened. They were trying to rush us out - even trying to take our plates away when we werent even finished. They automatically put a 20% tip on the bill which irritated me. then the worst when our waiter asked us to kindly leave because he needed the table. I was so shocked. I had to go up to him and tell him how very rude that was and he kept on saying he was sorry but honestly restaurants dont need to chase customers away in this economy. Then he ran to catch me and say that the Sangria was on the house - i refused saying that what he said was rude and offensive and that we would never go back again. Needless to say there are better places in Manhattan to get Tapas and this is the first time ever i was told to leave because they wanted to set other customers - so my advice if you want a nice dinner and conversation dont go there Pros: the sangria was good Cons: worst service ever more

Awesome Time 11/7/2009

A group of about 15 of us went there to start off a bachelorette party night and the staff was GREAT! They seated us right away even though the place was packed. We had a pre-fixed menu and all we can drink Sangria! They had our drinks topped off practically after every sip and brought out our apps and food in a very timely manner. It felt like we had about 10 waiters for our table and they interacted and were very festive. They brought out these great shots on the house and got the whole restaurant involved when they brought out the cake. Food was great too. I will DEFINITELY go back !!!!! Pros: Great for a group more

OK, but unmemorable 5/1/2009

Food is good but very basic and exceptionally unexciting. Definitely Americanized (read: dumbed down and UNspicy and unflavorful -- that is, boring). Worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood, perhaps. But definitely not worth the trip uptown. Don't misunderstand. There's absolutely nothing bad here. There's also nothing particularly great. more

very nice if in the garden 11/17/2008

We've been here a couple times and each time was very nice.\r The food is excellent but make sure you will like what you are ordering. Ask questions and don't assume you will like it. The flavors are sometimes strong and if you get something you didn't expect (like my wife)... well then there is simply more for the others.\r The sangria is good and potent. \r The service is spotty. They try very hard to make things right but sometimes you can be forgotten when it is busy.\r Sitting inside can be very hot during the warmer months so I would suggest outside. Get there early or go later but avoid the theatre crowd.\r The amount of food is impressive. The quality sometimes wavers but it has never been bad for all the dishes we have had. \r They are very good at seating large parties, as we had. Pros: sangria!!!, variety of food, garden seating Cons: service sometimes spotty, seating inside can be very warm more

Great service ,Fantastic Sangrias and love the the Jamon... 11/10/2008

Just had Tapas on Saturday night with a group of friends we LOVED IT ... Food and staff was fantastic and the live music was great and just the perfect mood for the night. We all loved the Sangria especially the classic red and on the tapas the fried artichokes , portobello and the jamon serano are amongst my favorite. We all had tapas in there patio during the summer and we are glad we came back again . Since most of our group live and work in Hells Kitchen we are going to make Sangria 46 one of our regular spots.\r \r Great place try it you will love it.........\r \r P.S. read the review about a crawly creature just a comment we do live in the city and I know how hard it is to keep those creatures away these things happen in the city all the time and they have happen to me in top 3 star restaurants . I dont make a big deal because I know its not uncommon for these things to happen in New York and I dont judge a restaurant over some thing they can not control especially if the establishment is clean and on another note dont always believe what you read many people or other restaurants out there like to cause un just harm to others . Pros: Fantastic Tapas , top service and red sangria to die for.... Cons: long wait if you go during theatre hour. more

Best Place for dinner 9/26/2008

My husband and I have visited Sangria 46 so many times. I love that place. It is Dan's and mine's ""spot"". The athmosphere is great. Sangria is amazing and food is undescribable. You have to try it.\r \r Kasia and Dan from Great Neck, NY more

Best tappas & sangria in NYC 7/5/2008

I love this place! The staff is warm and inviting. Such passionate people, I can't say enough. The food takes you on a culinary journey across the ocean to Spain. The recommendations are spot on, top quality ingredients, moderately priced. Vibrant, fun atmosphere with garden seating in the back. Meson Sevilla, (two doors down, same owners I believe) is an equally amazing. I highly recommend them both. Pros: Excellent service, atmosphere, food, cost more

Best tapas, sangria and service, no joke! 12/17/2007

From the minute you step in the door you feel like you are among friends. The staff is friendly and attentive and the customers always leave smiling. I haven't actually read the entire menu since suffice it to say that when I come here (and I do that often) I go by the recommendations of the staff and I have not been disappointed yet. Awesome sangrias, especially the hoiliday Rasberry one!! This is definitely a winner. I take all my colleagues and friends here and they always come back on their own. My compliments to the owners for an excellent establishment and my gratitude to the entire staff for wonderful service and especially to the guy in the kitchen who makes the mussels Diablo! They are the best!! Pros: Service, sangria, food, prices and ambiance Cons: They are closed on Mondays! more

Excellent Service and Drinks 12/1/2007

Saw an ad for ""the best sangria in town"" in the paper so we decided to give it a try. The half pitcher of sangia is big for a half pitcher which was nice. We ordered one tappa and it was excellent. The bartender was very attentive and brought us a plate of cheese and ham as well as some shots of a traditional spanish grape liquor drink which was excellent. Pros: Good food, reasonable prices, excellent service, nice garden out the back of the resturant more

Best Filet mignon Tapas and #1 Sangria in the area 10/31/2007

Just Fantastic even with a bit of chill in the air our group of 4 sat in the patio, soon the red Sangria and the mango Sangrias started to warm us up . We enjoyed a wide range of Tapas and if I am not mistaken we prbably orderd one of each . The ones that stand out the most was the grilled filetmignon thin sliced and grilled on a hot skillet with a touch of brandy sauce, the fried artichokes, grilled shrimp and a special grilled langostinos. The place was great our group that lives in the area get together every week for din and from know on this place will be on our list of local places to dine at. Oh and bravo to the service at least they have some sort of personality and dont treat you like a number. Pros: great Sangrias a fantastic grilled filetmignon tapa and real service with a smile... Cons: I would avoid 6-8 times go after 8pm less crowded and no pesty theatre people.. more

New Addition to Restaurant Row 9/27/2007

Stopped in last night with a few colleagues for a quick bite to eat and some wine. Even though it was warm we decided to sit in the Garden which offers a fabulous getaway from the craziness that is Restaurant Row. \r \r Service was excellent...great recomendations on the wine and seafood paella. Very attentive service and I would advise going with your servers recommendations as the choices of different food can be overwhelming to first timers.\r \r The Seafood Paella was outstanding with delicious mussels and shrimp in a very satisfying portion. I love Spanish wine and our server picked a great bottle of red that we enjoyed with our meal.\r \r All in all a great night and I'll definetly visit the garden again once it cools down. Pros: Seafood Paella, Garden, Wine/Drink Choices Cons: too humid to fully enjoy the garden more

New Tapas 9/9/2007
