Best Wontons I've had in Philly. 11/6/2006

On cold windy days, I crave for a nice hot bowl of wonton noodles. I'm quite picky about my wontons considering I'm use to the wontons that I get on the west coast or in Canada. We went to Sang Kee's a few days ago and were told that the wait would likely be 10-20 minutes. To our surprise, we were seated in 3 minutes, and since we already knew what we wanted to eat our order came in like 5 minutes. I ordered a Duck and Wonton Noodle Soup and my partner ordered a Beef Brisket Noodle Soup. Both our soups were quite tasty, the beef brisket soup had a great beef flavor and mine had a nice light broth. The duck had great flavor, and the wontons were seasoned nicely. My only complaint would be that the noodles weren't chewy enough, but I guess that would be a complaint that I should make with noodle factory they use. We wanted to catch a movie, so we were done with our meal in about 30-minutes. This is a great affordable place to eat if you’re in a hurry, and if you have a large party it looked like there was a great selection for dinner items as well. I'm looking forward to trying the other things on menu. more

Great authentic Chinese 3/19/2006

Sang Kee has great authentic food and you can tell because they are always crowded with Chinese speaking customers but do not worry because the staff speaks good English. I love their soup noodles and I always add their perfect shrimp dumplings. Their spring roll is great, larger than most and always comes hot and fresh. The only complaint is that the salt and pepper shrimp can use a little more pepper but the taste and feel is good. more

good peking duck house 9/29/2005

Their meats are fresh and prepared very well. The place itself is a little on the small side, but they have seating upstairs as well. I really do enjoy their Peking Duck. If you cannot finish an entire order or half order you can always get their Peking Duck roll. I also really enjoy the roast pig, but they only have that on occasion, and many times they run out of it by dinner time. Great food, crowded atmosphere, and decent service. The price is just right too.. not too expensive, but It could be cheaper in comparison to toher duck houses. more

Fast, cheap, and tasty 9/17/2005

Sang Kee feels fairly cafeteria-esque, albiet with ducks hanging in the window. The food is very good, but not familiar if you're only used to westernized Chinese food. I highly recommend the duck - it's great. Service is fast, but not all the waitstaff speak English. more

Cantonese Style Chinese Eats 8/6/2005

The name says Peking Duck house, but at Sang Kee's, all the roast meats - from Duck, Chicken, and especially Pork - are pretty good. This is very much a low frills, chinatown operation, which means reasonably indifferent service, no concept of dish timing, but pretty low prices. It's pretty easy for non-Chinese to order and eat here, because all the menu items are quite self explanatory and there isn't any seperate 'chinese' menu like some places have. They also offer takeout, and they sell their roast meats for take-home by the pound. I advise coming here with a small group, as that allows you to order several different dishes and share them with rice. more
