Great custard from a local place 3/27/2006

There are a couple different places to get frozen custard in Austin, but I prefer Sandy's Barton Springs and South First. They serve both vanilla and chocolate custard, and I think you can get a dipped cone as well. The custard is creamy, and they give you a lot. They also serve pretty good burgers, too. Great place to stop for a treat if you're out and about on the weekend. They have a drive through. more

Sandy's has been here for several decades. The place is old (and it shows), so if you're a clean freak, don't come here. If you like good old fashioned greasy burgers off the grill this is the place! more

Ok Burger place 8/14/2005

If you want an old Fashion burger Sandy's is a decent place to look. It is a small joint with very limited parking and seating. It has a drive thru and is likely best suited to grab a quick bite to eat. The prices are about what you'd expect to pay and more know places but the quality is a lot better. Aside from burgers they offer hot dogs, Malts, shakes, and other food you'd expect from a seventies style diner. more
