Food was great. Food was expensive. Servings were small. Then the bill came for a party of 2 and an 18% gratuity was added. The server never mentioned this, and I am sure she ...

Great French Food 2/5/2006

Sandrine's Bistro in Cambridge is the perfect little romantic French restaurant you've been looking for. The environment is very warm and comfortable and the service is impeccable making this a great date spot. Cuisine here is from Eastern France- meaning it is also heavily influenced by Germany. Many of the dishes like the roast duck and the lamb shank are hearty and robust. This is a better winter-time restaurant- it is sure to leave you comfortably full and warm inside. Prices are right making this an outstanding value for French cuisine. more

Good food but pricey 9/4/2005

Unlike many French restaurants, Sandrine's serves specialties from a particular region in France, Alsace. You will find the food very different from what you are used to in the other upscale French restaurants. The food tastes good but a bit pricey for what it is. Service was so so as the waitress did not bring us bread until 20 min after we were seated. People who arrived after us all got bread! Setting is nice for a casual date. But there aren't that many good restaurants in Harvard Square anyway. more

Lovely little bistro 8/25/2005

Looking for a romantic place with excellent food but not too fussy? Look no more. Sandrine's, located on a side street right in Harvard Square, is like an oasis from the world. Food is French inspired with some American additions. On a recent lunch visit, I had some chilled cucumber vichysoisse which was cool and delicious. My partner had a lobster bisque which tasted of a rich, long-cooked stock in addition to the lobster. Prices arereasonable at lunch time... without alcohol, one could easily eat for less than $15. At dinner, the prices go up considerably but are worth it for the beautifully prepared entrees. There are modern touches without trendiness. The services is excellent - prompt but not obtrusive. Excellent wine list and really good desserts complete the experience. Try Sandrine's for a touch of Europe right here in Boston. more

Great Alsatian cuisine tucked into Harvard Square 5/2/2005

A lovely restaurant nestled on Holyoke Street, one of the less-trafficed streets on Harvard Square, Sandrine's is a fantastic French Bistro. The interior is charming, the food delicious and the staff friendly and detail-oriented. Very cozy and romantic, Sandrine's would be a great restaurant for a date or a fun place to visit to celebrate that special occasion. more
