Discriminates Against Children! 9/3/2007

I live in San Carlos and had some friends from Menlo Park come visit on 9/2/07. We had heard San Remo Pizzeria and Ristorante was good, so we headed downtown to enjoy some dinner. Between our two families we had a party of 9, 5 of whom were children. Upon asking for a table, the hostess went back into the kitchen and returned to tell us that they didn't have any tables for a party of our size. Walking past several tables that could easily accommodate us, and I headed to the back to speak with the owner. He said that he didn't serve parties with that many children any longer! I stood there in shock, not believing what I was hearing. I walked out of the restaurant with my one-year old son in my arms blown away at the stupidity. As I walked out, passing several large parties enjoying dinner outside, I just felt sad for the owner's outlook on life. If you support the family, I encourage you not to patronize this business. more

Indoor/Outdoor European Atmosphere 8/24/2007

Fun Place. The atmosphere indoors and outdoors has strong european flavor. The staff who greets and serves have italian accents which add to the experience. It is a very busy ristorante, but service is right on point. Authentic, old world style italian food. They served us bruchetta on toast that was to die for. Our entrees were veal parmagana, lasagne, pizza. They were warm, hearty and flavorful. The salad for one is huge and served in a big bowl that you toss yourself and can share. The wine is served in the short glasses that true Italians drink from. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Street can be noisy more

The Best Pizza!! 11/11/2005

This pizza is as good as it gets. I challenge all New Yorkers to eat here. The style is what I call San Francisco-Italian. That means that you get the delicate flavor of a real Italian pizza combined with a modified version of the more substantial crust of a New York style pizza. The crust is medium thin in the center with the telltale puffy edges that signify a truly angelic pizza. The center is just thick enough to stand up to the toppings, but is not overly crispy like an Italian pie, yet not overly doughy like even New Yorks best. Once you appreciate the artistry that went to produce this marvelously well-balanced style, youll never want any other. Is that the best pizza you ever had? I asked a New Yorker. His reply: I wont admit it, but I cant deny it! Say Hi to Rudy for me! Pros: Pizza, Pizza, Pizza more

Pizza is good...rest of it is standard fare 9/6/2005

I had their meat and spinach ravioli, my fiance had a made to order pizza. BY FAR, his pizza was better. The marinara sauce on the ravioli tasted canned but the dinner salad that they serve in a bowl for the whole table was awesome...a great antipasto mix. It's fun and a hang out for the locals and if I had to choose between this and some chain restaurant I would choose San Remo. Give it a try, you might find a jem on the menu and make it your favorite. Pros: Good Thin Crust Pizza more
