Waaahoooooooo 6/11/2009

I met the lead singer of Del Castillo at a Monster Mail postal place and he recommended that I go play music at Sam's Town Point on Allred street at the corner of Slaughter and Manchaca. I didn't find my way there for two months but when I did I was greeted like an old friend and was soon listening to awesome live music from fifties to contemporary originals and from country to rock. I will defiantly be visiting there regularly. Say hello to Wally for me. Peace, Joe Pros: Homey, Friendly, Live Music, Young and Old Cons: Hard to find, Small more

Kickass dive bar in deep south Austin 9/12/2006

There is no longer a membership fee for this classic Texas dive bar! Sitting just feet from the city limits, Sam's is a smoking venue with a greasy spoon kitchen to boot. Cold Pabst for $1.50 and the nicest laidback staff around. They have a full range of beers, but I think it's Bring Your Own Liquor, so call ahead if you are a whisky fan. Good music from Ramsay Midwood on Wednesdays and pool tables in the back to keep ya busy.\r \r I rate it a 10 because it is a no fuss, real deal bar without the meatmarket, hipster scene. Just my style! Most people I know that make it out are in awe of its simplicity and each seem to convert to Sam's Fans upon entering. Come on out! Pros: off the radar Cons: i usually go on a school night (ouch) more

Fun place 11/2/2002

This place is off the beaten path,,very far south, and not easy to find. This is the only bar i have ever been in that is actually a Doublewide trailer..and they have the nerve to charge a ""membership"" fee..lol only in Texas, huh?..I must say i had a very good time. The bartender was great, informative and friendly, and later on they had Kareoke on this tiny little stage. Very cosy place, reasonable price drinks, great for conversation, and a comfortable place to be. more
