Please be careful with your belongings if you visit the Sam's Boat on ""Richmond"" they have staff (in this case a waitress) to whom are thieves. Luckily the situation was handling so poorly by management and the law officer who was working there that we have enough to build a case. more

Horrible Management 11/18/2010

Not only do they have bad management they also dont pay their vendors that supply them.My client has not been paid for over a year and I was told this morning that they will pay when they feel like it from their Corporate offce. So bad service , bad food and bad management. more

WORST PLACE IN HOUSTON 3/25/2009

This Sam?s Boat Location is the Worst in Houston. Thank Hardy King for this review; he?s supposedly a Manager with NO BUSINESS CARD. Yeah, right! My partner and I met some friends there on Friday, February 27, 2009 (very recent), and we waited for almost 30 minutes before our waitress stumbled upon our table, and asked if we had been helped. Everyone replied No, so she took drink orders which took another 30 minutes, and after sitting there for an hour we find out the ran out of crawfish 2 hours ago. Anywhoo, we order, get the spicy shrimp (waitress said), and turns out we ordered the Buffalo Shrimp. Needless to say the only good food on they?re menu is the AIR PUDDING! These shrimp were disgusting!!!! We try to send them back, and we were greeted by some dude who didn?t even introduce himself to the table, just walked up and asked who the food belonged to while nearly dropping the food on the ground. My partner says the food belonged to her, and that it wasn?t very appetizing, and she asked if that could be taken off of the ticket. He was irate, and belligerent in not wanting to comp the appetizer, not the meal the appetizer. With that he had security watching us go to the restroom, and was trying to argue with us when we wanted to talk the G.M., and asked the police to arrest us for not wanting to pay for the app. Hardy King is a definite A** HOLE, and he needs to be FIRED!!! I think the $7 really meant a lot to him because with the economy being the way it is he had to catch all of the shrimp by hand?.LOSER!! Pros: Good Crawfish Cons: BAD SERVICE: Customer Service, and Management more

Avoid and be aware. 8/1/2007

BE AWARE of the so-called ""boil shrimp specials"" at Sam's Boat. I asked the waitress what was the special and was told the boil shrimp was 35 cents, before 7 pm. I said ""excuse me...35 cents/pound"". The waitress responded ""yes."" Unbeknown of the scam, we ordered 4 pounds of the special ""boil shrimp"" and another 4 pounds shortly thereafter when more friends arrived, who also asked the waitress to confirm the 35 cents/pound boil shrimp special. which she confirmed. more

Decent place for live music. 5/25/2007

The outside seating was nice because the weather was great. The service was really good. (You don't have to be a male to get good service.) Good selection of beers and the amount of bars was also nice. We didn't eat but the food looked good. The band that played was also a very good cover band. If you are looking for a place to go with friends and have some drinks without having to worry about what you are dressed in then this is the place to go. Casual atmosphere with decent prices for drinks. What difference does it make how the manager treats the waitresses? Whether they are sleeping with the manager or not... Pros: Ambience,Service and Live music Cons: Parking more

Richmond is dead and so is this place 12/8/2006

This used to be THE place in houston on weekends but that's not the case anymore. The only people who frequent this place are the usual middle aged men hiding from their wives and trying to pick up the bartenders that double as strippers on the nearby clubs on their days off. The bands they have are generic cover bands who will just play their amateur version of the same tired songs you hear on the radio. From what i've seen and heard, the manager treats the waitresses like dirt too if they're not sleeping with him. Oh, and good luck finding a free parking spot and not getting shot at. Pros: patio can be nice when weather is good Cons: nothing special...plain bar food, small beer selection, and paid parking more

Decent food. 10/15/2006

If you want service here, you better be a male. Other than that you're SOL. When you do happen to ""find"" (you do have to hunt a waitress down) service, they tend to forget about you. Unless you know a bartender, you won't get a drink at the bar. I do not recommend this place to anyone above the age of 28. Pros: happy hour Cons: service more

To heck with the movie! 8/7/2005

All I have to say is GREAT PARTY! GREAT FOOD! GREAT DRINKS! The party is on the menu and in the bottle here! $2 rita's, beer, cocktails all the time. Food kicks! Smoked oysters! If you're in a hurry, go some place else. This is a destination point! We alln went thinking we we're going to see a movie later on. WRONG! We showed up at 6pm Sunday, live music, good looking girls and guys for me to ""break down"", YADA YADA YADA I didnt go to work Monday and I have a date tomorrow with a new ""friend"". What a fun place! Pros: People, great drinks, deck Cons: parking, the next day more

SAM's BOAT & SAM's PLACE Much Improved 7/20/2005

Sam's Boat on Richmond has really improved over the last year or so. The food is better, the menu is better and offers great specialty drinks. I drink the Waborita(Cabo Wabo tequila). The bartenders are attractive, friendly & down-to-earth. I recommend cruising by during the week for early happy hour to get the best seats and service. Weeknights and weekends create a party atmosphere which is great if that is what you are looking for (i.e. great live bands and beautiful women plus showcase events such as Hawaiian Tropic, Darque Tan, among others). If you have not checked out Sam's Boat on Richmond, Sam's Boat in the Woodlands or even ventured to Sam's Boat in Austin, I recommend taking a looksie and enjoying yourself. Check out the many drink specials that I have benefitted from.....there are $2 drink specials almost everyday. As Napolean Dynamite would say, ""sweet."" Safe-Respect-Peace, BJ Pros: Great Crowd, Hot Staff, Great Food more
