I am addicted to this place. The dukpoki and beef bulgogi are my favorites. It is clean, the food is presented well, and the flavors are authentic. A large meal for two, with lots of variety, costs about $30. Pros: Food is consistently excellent Cons: Strip mall, too small for how popular it is. more

Yes, the wait time on weekends is horrendous (often up to an hour once you're seated), but oh, is it worth it! The food here is always fresh and authentic and the price can't be beat! Even if you're not a remotely adventuresome eater, there are all kind of dishes on the menu that are perfect for those who are ""foreign phobic"" (don't let anybody tell you they don't like Korean food - there are offerings here that could be whipped up in any loyally American kitchen if only the cook had been struck with a flash of culinary genius). The service is astronomically friendly, and though the decor leaves something to be desired, the vibe is so warm and bright that you can't claim the ambiance is anything less than elevating. Go to Sam Hawk and have a taste of Korea! Your palette will worship you for it! I enjoyed my visit. The food was very good and I plan on going again. The only negative about the whole visit was the time it took to get a table and for our food to arrive. I lived in Korea for a couple years and thought the lettuce wraps were relatively close to authentic. Some other dishes were seasoned differently than what I was used to but that's to be expected. My boyfriend and his father have raved over Sam Hawks, so last wkend my boyfriend took me there. And we had to wait for 10-15 min for a table, however it was around dinner time on a Saturday night. I have to say that I am not a fan of Korean food usually, however I was surprised at the different types of food they have, and price isn't all that bad, We both ate for $20 and were stuffed afterwards. I enjoyed the restaurant very much and the food is awesome. In fact I am taking a whole group of my friends soon. You can call and reserve room ahead of time so you don't have to wait. The food is authentic and very well done, making this one of the best restaurants in the Provo-Orem area. The ambience leaves something to be desired, but the service is excellent (though often EXTREMELY slow because they have only one cook and one server) and the food is good enough that the ambience is not that important. Unlike some restaurants, it isn't so noisy that you can't carry on a conversation, and the server doesn't try to rush you from the table the minute you've eaten your last bit, even if there is a line of those waiting to be seated. I had a very enjoyable time to say the least at sam hawk korean restaraunt. the ambiance was a little sparce, but nice. The food was seemingly very authentic for utah and was surprisingly delicious. Although the squid was somewhat spicy for my tastes, the assortment of other things the waitress brought to the table balanced the meal very well. Speaking of the waitress, she went out of her way as to show my friends how to properly use chop sticks. Suffice to say i will be coming back to sam hawk korean resaraunt in the near future.
